Stop and exit on Escape key? (1 Viewer)

I have what I hope is a very simple question. Is it possible to have MP stop playing a video and exit back to the menu just by pressing one key (escape?). In my current HTPC setup (the last working version of Meedio) when I'm playing a video and hit escape (or the exit key on my remote) it stops the video and exits back to the movie list. I'd like to replicate this in MP because a) it's what my wife is used to and b) I've never needed to keep a movie playing while going back to the menu.

So, can it be done? and if so, how?

If I am not mistaken, that is what STOP do. STOP button on remote or B on keyboard.

Right, but the b key won't go back through the other menus like escape does. I guess I'm looking for the same key to do multiple things depending on context, or just to disable the "inline" player completely.
