Vista\Win7 needs EVR as renderer, if its show as that in MP config, change to vmr9, hit ok, then reopen config and change back to EVR.

Now does Movie close correctly :)

ps. you also need Aero theme enabled in Windows for EVR to use dxva correctly.

I'll look at all that after work this evening. Thanks. But it still begs the question - why does everything (My Videos and My TV Series) *but* Moving Pictures work correctly in this regard?

I really cannot understand that either but i'm using both plugins with no issues, you are producing vmr9 logs, when it should be evr one, so that bit of diagnosing was easy :)

It was already on EVR. I think the movie is closing correctly. It's MediaPortal (or Moving Pictures) that's not recovering.

You should pack all log files in a rar file to make it easiest for me/us. Just the MovPic log isn't really useful in this case.

So just pack the whole "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log" folder in a rar/zip file please.

    Attached.

    Code:

Windows seems to be doing something... is there anything in Windows' own logs?

The following items are in the system log at the time frame you cited:

The only thing the event detail says "UVD Information"

BTW, the video card is a ATI HD 4670 and I'm running the drivers downloaded by Windows 7 (v8.632.1.2000). Windows claims that the driver is up-to-date.

I really cannot understand that either but i'm using both plugins with no issues, you are producing vmr9 logs

The fact that MPconfig states you are on EVR is not conclusive, thats why I gave specific instructions to select vmr9 and then go to evr, saving by closing MPConfig with the ok button each time.

This error should be fixed in RC2

Those are outdated, Catalyst 10.2 equals Display driver v8.702

The cost for Microsoft Logo certification is high, and sometimes lengthy process, so manufactors don't do it often. However to fix a lot of problems you have to use their latest drivers, sometimes even beta.

Be aware that sometimes the latest drivers demand the latest BIOS on the videocard (and mainboard BIOS), this thankfully happens less often on the modern models, but be sure to check your manufactors website for any updates.

That fixed it. It was originally set to EVR, I changed it to VMR9, and then back, and it's working now.

Many thanks, oh great and powerful Oz. :)
