Hi All !
When mediaportal sends standby signal to my HDTV, it stops playing music too.
I have the same problem when I switch off my TV.

This problem is only with mediaportal, WMP still playing with TV switched off.

Switching on back the TV does not start the player, I have to press the PLAY button.

Blank screen settings only doesn't not cause this problem.

The goal is to switch off TV for long music playing.

Thank you for your help.

Video cards that doesn't "see" anything connected while in a DVI/HDMI connection will stop all video output. This will hang MP and all 3dapp once you switch the display back on as a directx reinit occur.

MP handle this situation and stop playback ;)

NVIDIA have a registry hack to allow connection always on, ATI not. Dunno about INTEL.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Such a bad news ! Another one due to the intel graphic card. First was the impossibility to change the refresh rate during runtime, second this one.

Is there a workaround ? Or a specific driver to avoid hanging mediaportal ?

Edit: Why WMP is not affected like MP ?

So if MP is not able to dismiss this kind of directx video signal. Why MP has the standby screen setting available ?

MP can switch off the TV, but it can stop playing too.... it's confusing.

    Thank you.

It works fine with analog display devices as video card is not turning output off for those.

Understood. Thank you. So it's only for HDMI and DVI outpout

Is it possible to code MP for dismissing the directX signal generated by the video card when the device (TV) is disconnected ? By this way, MP should not stop playing.

I past my Sunday searching informations about DVI and EDID.
Great ! I found useful informations that explain why MP stop runtime when TV disconnected.

If you are interesting, just look here TUTORIAL

I found an hardware workaround to solve both the init signal send bye the DVI connector and the way to fix the TV resolution. Gefen DVI Detective - EXT-DVI-EDID

It seems that nobody is able to patch video drivers to disable EDID informations, expect for NVIDIA who add this kind of option to their official driver.

Intel... it's up to you !

    Cheers all for your help.
