I installed MediaPortal and the TV Server on my main PC. I do not have my TV Tuner card yet so I have not configured the TV Server, but I want to stream my other media(pictures, video, music) to my other computers, but I cannot find how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there

MediaPortal can currently only stream TV. Not other media. I think MediaPortal 2 will address that in future.

You can however set up a shared MP database to make life easier, but be warned, it is not designed for concurrent updates. If you use one PC at a time, it works great. See here:
    UserGuides/CentralisedDatabases - MediaPortal Manual Documentation

Popular plugins like MovingPictures and TVSeries can also use the setup explained above to ensure a single database between PC's.

    ^^

? ive been streaming video files via TVSeries and MyFilms for a while on my setup now with no problems. i tell MyFilms and TvSeries plugin configurations on my laptop client to look for the video files on my shared network drives, and stream them over my wireless LAN.

in fact TV is the one thing that i have been having problems getting working (MP crashes when i try to stream from my server).

    Me too.
That is either a normal network setup created on more than one client or a central database as explained in manual.
So technically it is not MediaPortal doing the streaming from a single setup.

    aah, interesting.

ive been having issues with TVSeries finding the thumb image files for the season front covers etc. i guess this is because i need to setup a shared directory on the master pc as shown in your link?

yep, that guide is what I am using even though it is not officially supported by the team.
Risk if you use both PC's at same time since concurrent database updates are not supported.

thats true, but in my case i never update the client database, up to now i only ever updated master database and copied accross to the client (as i hardly ever add new video files these days).

i will now definately set up a shared directory as per your link though so that when i do add files i dont have to mess about copying the database across the network.
