I've had my share of problems with quiality of live tv. I can say i've tried everything i can think of. Build my own builds of MP, tried different directshowhelper dll(oleder worked quite good), but problem was not there. Tried different core.dll and it also had impact, but that was not the reason of bad behavior also.

It was display driver. I've updated Nvidia driver for few times within last 1/2 year. I've used '3D gurus' driver sweeper,
but in my opinion that is not enough. I trusted that nvidia driver installer would do it's job proberly, but it's not, and if you have done multible updates to display driver even DriverSweeper from 3D guru's might not be enough.

I've also posted here about problems and wondering why in h**l i'm having troubles with TV quality and stuttering, even my hardware should be cabable of perform wery well.

Then i read totally different forum and found out little utility in Windows 7 and in Vista. It's called pnputil. In Win7 and Vista there is hidden place called DriverStore where windows puts all drivers you have ever installed. When i tried to frst uninstall Nvidia driver and then use DriverSweeper, Windows managed to put older driver from Driverstore into use. That caused Nividia Driver installer to have some troubles updating necesary files. I mean It was not sure that all dll's had correct versions.

So with "pnputil -e" you can list all drivers in driverstore. They are named as "oem1", 2... etc. They also have driver package provider name, which you can use to determine what to delete.

First I uninstalled Nvidia driver and then deleted all nvidia drivers from driverstore, I rebooted at least once so that currently used drivers were not locked. And so that Windows could not find any other driver than built-in VGA driver. Then i used DriverSweeper one last time and installed Nvidia driver of choise.

I waited for about 2 weeks before posting this, cos wanted to be sure that my system is really running fine(plasebo effect).
It is. Gone are unknown crashes, stuttering, Zapping SD<->HD is fine.

Then i did the same for audio drivers.

Im sure this works also with ATI.

So i'm sorry that i have probably posted wrong bug reports, because I really had driver problems. So we should learn from this and try to make sure that basics of running MP are fine, so that false bug reports are gone. Well we are not living in ideal world, so this won't happen i Guess, but i hope it has some impact.

I think this should be checked at least when Hardware is known to be good for playing HD, but it does not.

Keep up the good work.My MP has neve been better or more stable.

Nice find. Thanks for letting us know. I am sure this will be a good help for many people (and shows that MP isnt always the error reason, even if it might look like that).

After reading this way of solving stuttering - this method does not solved my HD stuttering problem, but going the same direction upgraded bios to newes - stuttering gone!!! So not MP problem and not too weak (?) integrated x4500HD video card was the problem.

But anyway for the future - as I use backup to restore "clean install" I think we have to be clear when after restoring old installation drivers are updated and above mentioned problem could apear.

I'm not believing this right now! After a full year of stutter, glitches and artefacts and a wagonload of different complicated approaches to get rid of the problems, a simple bios update did the trick! Thank you so much for this insight! All stutters are completely gone, even HD-TV works like a charm! Hell yeah!

After a few days' test:
TV's still working flawless. Everyone with unexplainable stutters in live TV should try a BIOS update.
