Hey there everone... I've seen similar posts recently but i think this is different.

Basically i've been configuring MP a lot recently and this morning i noticed that i get very stuttered playback on certain H264 movie files that used to play fine in MP a day or so ago, but only in mediaportal. All the files i'm having trouble with play perfectly in WMP11 and MPC and VLC. They even play fine in a different install of MP over the network.

I'm using (for almost all players including MP) CoreAVC Pro 1.6.5.0 for h.264 and ffdshow (installed through CCCP) for everything else.

In the 'Movie Player' part of MP config i have tried every combination of codecs available, nothing changes the very stuttered playback.

There are several files that exibit this behavior some are like my 16gb copy of gladiator and some are 350mb copies of mushishi. All the stuttering files are h264 and mkv's but not all h264's or mkv's stutter. My copy of 300 (720p mkv h264) works fine.

The only settings that i have been changing recently are in the TV series plugin that i recently installed.

I imagine that this isnt a codec problem or a GFX problem as MP worked fine with these movies till recently. It has to be an MP config problem or a bug.

I'm this close to reinstalling... Reconfiguring will take forever if i have to to it all again... but this is driving me nuts.

Oh and i tried reclock but it won't work. And i dislike the idea of using something to fix a problem that till recently i didnt have.

Any help?:D

Most of the problems are codec\driver related, trying to pinpoint problem is the real issue.

Graphedit\graphstudio is your helper here, use the connect to remote graph with mediaportal playing one of the problem files to get a picture of which filters are being used when playing, see if these are the same as used when playing a good file, take snapshots (winsnap free) and add to post using the forum + function.

Also what Graphics chip\card is doing the video work, if onboard, set memory from auto and onto 256mb in BIOS, amd's cool'n'quiet can also cause issues, try the amd dual core optimizer (not necessary Vista).

Why only MP has this, no other players invoke directx the way we do, so make sure you have latest (aug 2008).

    No luck so far.

    Thanx for your quick reply...
    :D
Have given all my codecs another look.

    Wanted to ask...

Directx was my first thought to... went to the MS site and got DirectX10 (latest)...

I noticed though that the latest MP installer uses DirectX 9c and i remember re-installing DirectX10 recently for a game... you dont think that 10 messes up where 9c doesnt do you?

    Later Edit:

Nothing worked... Did a re-install... took ages... works great now... i can't find any difference in my settings...

    Thanks though:D
