The internal Player that Media Portal is utilizing is not running up to par with the Media Player Classic build 1.1.796.0 When trying to play a 1080p file. I know that I am at the limit of the hardware. However when I play the files using just Media Player Classic, everything is fine or should I say 99%. If I use the internal Player of MediaPortal the sound drops about 0.5 secs behind and has some noticeable video lag about 95%.

Test files included:

The.Dark.Knight.2008.1080p.BluRay.x264-CiNEFiLE.mkv

and

Lost.S01E01.1080p.DTS.x264-CtrlHD.mkv

Any ideas as to what might be causing the latency other then hitting the limits of the hardware? I would like to get that last 4% through mediaportal and not a 3rd party player.

Hmm, very interesting. Last night, a 1080p encode I was playing on my Athlon 5200 / integrated ATI 3200 HTPC was losing sync like crazy - the audio kept getting ahead of the video. I assumed my puny hardware was not up to the task, so I moved my Intel C2Q6600 / ATI 2900 XT machine into the living room to finish watching it. I could have sworn that I set my C2Q6600 to 24 Hz and it worked fine, but my Athlon 5200 was definitely set to 24 Hz and glitched all over this particular video.

Anyway, today I updated all the drivers and codecs on my Athlon 5200 machine. No dice - still played this one 1080p video file wonky. After reading this thread, I changed from 24 Hz to 60 Hz - problem gone.

So, thanks for the heads-up!

Oh, BTW, I'm using MediaPortal 1.0.2.
