Synopsis::

I get stuttering when watching Live-TV (analogue). I have tried several different Hauppauge drivers with no success. I also tried different video codecs. The problem get worse when watching full screen. In MyTV it is OK, and also in the setup when scanning for channels it is OK.

I have also tried the tv-card using Microsoft Media Center and there it works flawless, no problems at all. It would be a real shame to go back to MCE because of this.

All other file-movies works great. I cannot understand the problem.
Please help. Unfortunately I can't use DVB here yet.

I have the same problem with a Nova-t 500. I have been searching round the web and found a whole heap of complaints about this card and the signal strength it needs for it to work smoothly. It seems as though the signal splitter on this card looses quite a lot of signal strength and the symptom seen on the PC is a stutter, intermittant sound and other inconsistent performances. I would therefore suggest that the same cause might be applicable on your system.

there are links to a Hauppauge distributed tool that will report the signal strength for you Tuner card allowing you to compare.

I have an Avermedia A16AR and a Hauppauge Nova-t 500 in the same system and the Avermedia card always shows 100% signal strength, the Nova-t (which is the same I think as your HVR1300 but without the Analogue options) shows 60-80% when I move the the same aerial between the cards.

I also get a BSOD when I enable both cards in MP 0.2.0.4 but that's a different issue, both work fine on their own, but I can't get 3 tuners at the moment.

Stick at least another 256 mb of ram or better 512mb That may solve your analogue problem.

Well, why is it that it works perefctly in MCE with 512mb RAM?

What is this DVB multi tuner update you are telling me about? I only do analog for now...

    ---

Where can I get this signal strength app? I think I have the signal anyway because of it working perfectly in MCE...?

This suggestion might be completely off-track - but have you tried changing video card drivers? It looks like you have a recent version installed, but I recall seeing some comments from other users about rolling back to an earlier version of the Nvidia drivers to fix video stutter problems....

    Worth a try?

I will give this a try. I will also check with another application (like WinTV) and see if it stutters there as well.

Still I would like to know why it works so good in MCE and so bad in MP? Nobody has anu suggestions to this?

I did everything I possibly could. It works good now, both in timeshift and without. But right now I have not yet configured the EPG ( I heard that could cause problems?).

The things I know that I did was:

-Totally disable Cool 'n quiet (both BIOS and Power Management)

    -Re-download the dlatest driver CD.

-Totally uninstall with Hauppauge tool and remove card from mobo.

    -Registry clean

-Installing everything again. This time including the radio-FM part. Dunno if this caused any problems before.

Something of the above fixed my stutteringproblem. Thanks for all tips anyway.

Oh ONE question remains: I have a small black boarder on the vertical sides of the screen. The tv-picture is not stretched fully to the sides. This is also only in MP. Any suggestions on how to fine-tune this?

With the latest SVN you can use 'crop settings'.
Via configuration edit the card and you'll see it there.
Ensure the framesize is set appropriately first i.e. PAL 720x576.

The standard crop settings are 8 left & right if you receive a 704x576 broadcast.

Otherwise it's trial & error until you get it how you want.

Your stuttering might have been related to Cool&Quiet. I had problems with stuttering video which cleared up after disabling Cool&Quiet.
