Thanks a lot for that hint! I just tried out the latest one and set EnableDWMQueuedMode to 1. Now everything works as expected. Great work!

How many displays are connected to the system ?

Have you got all the post-processing (sharpening/noise reduction etc) turned off in Catalyst control panel ?

There are two displays. One is the TV, the other one is a USB display (displaylink).
I played with many Catalyst options as well, but don't remember exactly what I tried and what not. However, I'm satisfied now.

That is what causes the stuttering problems, especially if the displays are different refresh rates.....
