Re: SubCentral v0.9.1 - download & manage subtitles (Moving Pictures/MP-TVSeries/othe

There is an answer somewhere in OnlineVideos section. Basically, in MediaPortal 1.2 there is a way to call a plugin with parameter. So if you call OnlineVideos with IMDb ID or movie name it can search a trailer site for a trailer. Pretty neat.

You should look in StreamedMP skin file how is this set up and follow the example to add a button in Black Glass skin file. I've been meaning to add this to Black Glass skin file, but 24 hours ain't enough :D

@Raytestrak: you can achieve the same by creating a group with only this provider enabled. Then set this group default for TV Series (or Movies - or both). You need to set up one more option to enable automatic search. Sorry for the vague explanation but that's all I can do until tomorrow :)

Thanks, got it working. With the advanced config setting to return to the previous plugin it's 99% perfect. All 'we' need now is the plugin to pop-up if a subtitle isn't present before playing and it's even beter than the subtitle search that was present in mp-tvseries. Next thing on my list is getting it to run for movies. I don't have any experience with the search providers (except bierdopje which only does tv shows) and I don't quite understand how it should work, but I'm getting there :D

Re: SubCentral v0.9.1 - download & manage subtitles (Moving Pictures/MP-TVSeries/othe

    Hi all,
I'm happy new user of MediaPortal and I found SubCentral very useful plugin in combination with Moving Pictures and MP-TVSeries plugins.

I'm from Czech Republic so I'd like to have Czech subtitles for my movies. Because SubCentral don't have any plugin for biggest Czech subtitles site www.titulky.com, I created one (see TitulkyCom.zip attachment).

To use plugin just copy contents of TitulkyCom.zip to [RootDirectory]\SubtitleDownloaders where [RootDirectory] is your MediaPortal install directory. There is one .dll and one .xml file. Both are needed.

Plugin is able to search and download subtitles from www.titulky.com. For some subtitles you have to be registered on site (free) so for this purpose, there is configuration option via TitulkyComConfig.xml file. You can enter your login and password into this file as described inside XML and plugin will use these to download restricted subtitles.

Titulky.com site has one annoying "feature" which sometimes requires you to wait for about 15 seconds before you can download subtitles. Because of this I had to implement wait into plugin so download of any subtitles will take about 20 seconds. This is expected behavior so be patient when downloading.

Current version of SubCentral doesn't have asynchronous download so these 20 seconds will freeze UI. I didn't like that on my HTPC so I made download asynchronous. See attachment "async_patch.patch" for details.
Second change is addition of error handling for download operation.
Third minor change in patch is to include error messages from plugins in message that is displayed to user. Problem is that notification dialog has only three short lines of text which is not very much for some descriptive message. We'll see what can be done with it. This may or may not be a good idea so I let you decide if you want it.

Hi, I have added your patch (bit modified) to SVN. Many thanks :)

I have also pushed a new translation. As for the error messages, I've decided not to show exceptions in GUI. Reason is the small dialog, exception messages don't look nice in GUI and the fact that all of them are logged. It might not be optimal but that's how it is for now. I have commented out the lines that show dialog with exception text and left them in the code, in case something changes my mind, or in case you or someone else wants to uncomment them easily :)

I have also added your Titulky.com provider to SVN, SubCentral installation package and you are credited in configuration dialog. If you need, I can give you committer role to SubCentral so you can easily update the provider when needed. Just PM me your Google Code mail.

Again, thanks for the hard work and support. Really nice to have some help from community :)

    Cheers!

I added that yesterday to MP-TVSeries and it will be available in next release.
We're still deciding whether to show confirmation question if subtitle is missing (one click more if you want subtitles) or just jump to SubCentral (one click more if you don't want subtitles) :)

The answer is probably somewhere in this thread, but I haven't been able to find it so here it goes:

How do I install the the content of the 1.0 version for MP 1.2?

    thanks

There is no answer. Alpha version in first post is for advanced users/testers/skinners who understand MediaPortal folder structure and can install manually. If you don't know how to do that, I'm finishing up v1.0 final - stable and will publish MPEI as soon as possible.
