Re: SubCentral v0.9.1 - download & manage subtitles (Moving Pictures/MP-TVSeries/othe

Thanks for a great plugin! Love it :D

    Feature request, if I may:
I use SubCentral in Moving Pictures and it often returns several subtitles that aren't compatible with my specific movie release. Since most (maybe all?) subtitle-playback-engines wants subtitle file to be the same until first dot as the movie file until first dot it would be sweet to have som kind of filter or use different colors in search result that will show which subtitles that will work out-of-the-box and which will need to be renamed etc.

There are already quite a few things that accomplish what you ask:

    * subtitle file with the same name as your media file (movie or tv show) will be colored differently in the list (color depends on the skin). If this doesn't happen for you, turn on debug logging, download the file you think should be colored, send the logs and tell me the skin you're using.

    * You can choose to sort by media tags and this will try to do the best to bring most relevant subtitles to your media on top. Also, colored subtitles will be at the top most since they are considered to be "perfect match" :)

would also be nice to have different colors for already downloaded subtitles.
very helpful for people with a short term memory (like myself) in a scenario where you have to try several subtitles.

    Fast answer :)

OK did some testing and it seems like media tags are extracted from filename and many of my movie releases are identified by their folder name. This is not something I've renamed, it's the way they been downloaded. Once I renamed my file to match the release (the same as the foldername) sort order was impeccable. It's no big deal to write a script that will try and rename movies to match release name from foldername bu hopefully SubCentral will get media tags from folder whenever filenames can't be used somewhere in the future.

The filename that didn't succeed to get subtitle from media tags was:
    .\I.Am.Number.Four.DVDRip.XviD-DEFACED\def-number4.avi

And the one that worked was:
    .\I.Am.Number.Four.DVDRip.XviD-DEFACED\I.Am.Number.Four.DVDRip.XviD-DEFACED.avi

Yup, using folder name is something I wanted to implement right from the start of media tags sorting stuff. I know there was a reason why I didn't do it but I will take a look this code once more and see if it's something that can easily be done.

There is no need to rename anything manually. When you download any subtitle, it is renamed by SubCentral according to movie file name automatically.

EDIT: To get the media tags working in your collection you currently need to edit your video file names as you said in later post

Good, in final testing phase right now.
