AW: Re: SubCentral v1.0.0 - download & manage subtitles (Moving Pictures/MP-TVSeries/

Any news on SubCentral.xml and MediaPortal.xml so I can fix this?

Hello,

I just tried this plug-in and it is really great! Thank you for the great work.

There is only one thing. I downloaded subtitles in Thai and these
do not show up correctly (wrong font, characters). When watching DVDs in MP
also copied into moving pictures Thai subtitles contained in the DVD show up
correctly. What can I do to get the downloaded subtitles display correctly?

Subtitles in text format (99% of downloaded ones) need to be in proper encoding and you have to use proper font to display them. So, the error is either in SubtitleDownloader (encoding) or in your player configuration. You can check the encoding by trying to play the movei and show the subtitles downloaded by SubCentral in MPC-HC or VLC. To configure player subtitles (font and size), use MediaPortal configuration. As you didn't provide any more info, there is not much more to say.

Hi, I have 1.2 beta installed. I downloaded the right file as stated few posts before and am still unable to install the plugin. The installer says I'm not running the correct version.
Is there any trick to get it working? Thanks for answer.

Read this post :)

Thank you very much for your support, SilentException:D

I tried to play the srt subtitle in vlc. I tried many different encodings,
didn't play correctly.

Than I tried again in MP with MPC-HC. Font was set to Arial (default). Didn't play.
But when I installed CordiaUPC, set the font to it and played in MP it played successfully!

Now this raises the next challenge. Fortunately this font is so nice that it can play
thai same as german subtitles. But in the german subtitlees not all characters are displayed
correctly then. Is there a way to choose the display font dynamically dependend on the subtitle
language? It is very impractible to leave MP, enter config, change font and return while
watching videos. Any help on that :D

Couple of things come to my mind:
    - Find font that supports both Thai and German characters
    - Use one of the font editors and add missing characters yourself
    - You could use ffdshow to display subtitles, then you can change the font by clicking the tray icon and modifying properties, on the fly. If you use 1.2 beta, i think it even has support for ffdshow subtitles from GUI (skin)

    Hi SilentException
You can add aMPed 3.3 to the list of skins that support SubCentral.
Any plans to integrate with MP Video Titles?

BTW the yes/no dialog text "manual search ..... " when you try to access search when it is unsupported is way too long for the button and does not scroll even when scroll is enabled. (see screenshot)

Would it be possible to support facadeview so global facadeview.list conditions would work?

Thanks for the great work on this plugin!

    Hi SilentException

    Hi Dadeo :)

    Will do, thank you!

Yes, already have that enhancement on issue tracker: Issue 41 - subcentral - Support for MyVideos - Download & manage subtitles - plugin for MediaPortal HTPC application - Google Project Hosting
Sooner or later, I'll add support for MyVideos ;)

BTW the yes/no dialog text "manual search ..... " when you try to access search when it is unsupported is way too long for the button and does not scroll even when scroll is enabled. (see screenshot)

I'm aware, but there is not much I can do. You can:
    - Set <scrollWrapString> on the button so it will scroll. Seems like you did that, button will scroll only when focused, if not we have a MP skin engine bug ;)
    - Widen the buttons in Yes/No dialog

Would it be possible to support facadeview so global facadeview.list conditions would work?

I have not plans to support facadeview. Is there any specific reason you need it for? There are other conditions you can use, perhaps we can work something out ;)

Thanks for the great work on this plugin!

No problems, glad you like it ;)

Thanks SE Sorry should have checked the issue tracker first (I am always telling aMPed users to do that LOL)

Yes text will scroll on yes/no dialog dialog button when in focus. It does in aMPed because I have to use scroll wrap a lot for 18pt font on 4x3. But default skin does not have it set. The bug is that scrollwrap is crap when using textalign center (it ignores the tag) but that is a MP skin issue and surely not near the top of the list :p

I'll PM you about facadeview when I get a chance and we can chat in IRC.

What I really love about the plugin is the integration - very nice and should be done more often imo! like OV is doing with Trailers now also. It makes the whole UI so much more user friendly!

About textalign=center and crappy wrap, maybe we should add it to Mantis? I can confirm that.

And about too long text, only solution I can do is to switch to menu dialog but it's not something i would like to do, it's not so nice. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to widen the buttons in YES/NO dialog so at least text "Manual" is visible. Will talk to catavolt about this for default skins.

Some news about 1.0.1 bugfix/maintenance release. I have decided to skip it and release 1.1.0 in next few days.
    - 2 new downloaders were added (SubsCenter.org by yoavain, Sous-titres.eu by MrJul)
    - Guzzi finished My Films plugin handler
    - I finished My Videos plugin handler

These changes deserve more than just maintenance release ;)

Yep we can try, but you will likely end up doing it! ;)

I think a little wider button is enough. It's always tricky with changing dialogs as you know, because you never know who has used them where or what text has to display there. That's why I tend to use textalign=center as you usually get best results in most cases. So fixing the scrollwrap crap helps a lot there.

Absolutely. Awesome. Thanks so much for all your work SE. Amazing you and Guzzi worked that out in one day for MF PLUS added for Videos!

Re: SubCentral v1.0.0 - download & manage subtitles (Moving Pictures/MP-TVSeries/othe

    Evening all,

I'm not really sure if this is the right place and before posting my question I would like to say that I did search before posting but I couldn't really find anything similar. Might be my search skills but bear with me...

I've been having problems with the subcentral plugin since yesterday and before that it was always working fine. If this is not the place please point me in the right direction.

Let me explain in short my situation. I upgraded my WHS which stores all my media. Because WHS changed something I needed to create new shares and rebuild my libraries (TV Shows, Movies etc.). This worked fine but after starting MP I wanted to download a sub for a movie and I got the following error:

ERROR: Could not load the skin file for subcentral!

I tried a lot of different things, to much to write down but nothing solved my problem. I did get a different error after installing the previous version of subcentral, something about subtitledownloader.dll not being available (the file was there oddly enough) but after upgrading to the latest stable I received the initial error again.

I updated my complete setup where it was needed (most of it I keep up to date pretty much monthly) and I now have the following:
    MediaPortal v1.1.3.0
    StreamedMP v1.4.12.2620
    SubCentral v1.0.0.203
    MovingPictures v1.1.4.1288
    MP-TVSeries v2.9.1.1745

I did read the log files and some I think changed over time, but it didn't help me out. What I also did was install the complete setup as shown on my normal computer and there it works so I'm officially lost here...

I'm not really sure what else to put down here, I just hope this looks familiar to someone reading this so I can get this fixed.

    Hi Kimo,
problem is that you're using SubCentral v1.0 with outdated StreamedMP skin file. I suggest you update StreamedMP skin.

Right... I kinda came to the same conclusion after reading the subcentral.log myself and went to the code.google.com page of streamedMP but even after selecting "All downloads" all I got was deprecated versions after the one I'm currently running. Using the update function in streamedMP didn't show an update either... However, if you use the team-mediaportal page you get the 1.5.5 update. Go figure, don't ask me why I didn't think of that one before.

You've probably heard or read phrases like this before, but man "do I feel stupid right now". Updating as we speak and thanks for the quick reply!
