Hi!

Im using ffdshow (rev 1685) as video codec and vobsub (vsfilter 2.37) to display subtitles. VobSub is added as a post processing filter in Media Portal, subtitles in Media Portal itself and ffdshow are disabled.

I use nero 8 (nero recode) to encode my movies (btw had the same problems with nero 7 before) in mpeg4 avc.

Now in general, subtitles work fine. However, for some movies they appear in black --> unreadable. Ive tried to change colors in vobsub, without any effect though.

Playing the affected movies in nero show time, the subtitles appear normal (white).

Any suggestions?

Thx!

ps: sry for double posting, got the wrong forum initially

    Have deleted your other post.

Having Nero installed on the same m\c as running MP not a great idea, there are to many system changes that nero does, that screw up other programs\codecs.

a quick search on the internet will show this, that's why i dropped it and for encoding now use TMPenc xpress.

You could try selecting the Nero codec for your movie player.

unfortunately i cant select the nero codec in MP for .h264 videos.

concerning nero in general, i find it to work perfectly with mp installed. only thing in need to solve is that small subtitles issue.. ;)

you mean compatibility --> autoload vsfilter?

tried yes and no, doesnt make any difference...

btw: i just checked out the trial of tmpg xpress.

is there no way to create 2 audio tracks when encoding from a dvd?
it also gives me a new subtitle problem :) --> cant turn subtitles on/off from within MP...

    Thats the one.

Possibly not the best person to give advice on subs, as only have 2 Movies with, and one of them is KungFu Hustle which you cannot take seriously :)

I take it you want a seperate .srt\sub file so it can be switched on\off, and not embedded in movie file.

I'm sure someone else will be able to give you a better answer, just hope you do not have to wait to long.

I have the same problem, only for MKV files mij subs appear black and the size is way too big. All other filetypes work perfect with nice white and small subs.

I did set Haalisplitter config to autoload vsfilter to enable the subs with MKV files.

    Please can anybody help?
