This may seem like an odd request, but if you have a Sumvision Cyclone Micro 4 Media Player, can you tell me whether it responds to a ping? The Micro 4 has a network socket, and I think that it can be assigned a static IP address, but that does not automatically mean that it will respond to a ping.
I have a Sony TV with a network socket, and that does respond to a ping.
I also have a Humax DVR with a network socket, and that responds to a ping.
But I also have a Manhattan HD-T2 tuner box with a network socket,
and that does not respond to a ping.
According to Manhattan Support: "That feature isn't available on this set top box".
I am looking for a cheap box that has a network socket, a static IP address, an infra-red remote control, and which is pingable. The Micro 4 would satisfy these requirements, provided that it responds to a ping. Thanks for any info.
