ive got a brand spanking new HTPC coming this week with this card in it and am thinking about using MediaPortal as the front end... is the 'random turn off' issue card related ? has anyone else had it happen ?

I bought one last week and it works well for me.
I am using a Dvico lite and the dual 2 with the dual 2 as the lower priority cards.

Marcusb,

I also bought one (Dvico FusionHDTV DVB-T Dual Digital 2) last week, but I do not have any luck with getting it to work with MP. The card works fine with Dvico's own software, but MP 0.2 (and the lastest SVN) does not recognise it.

Can you confirm that your version of MediaPortal detects and use the card successfully?

If yes, can you pls confirm version of Dvico drivers/apps that you installed? My card came with FusionHDTV 3.42 (which is not even on their website yet!!). Interesting to also note that Dvico have an FTP server with 3.50BETA drivers - these also dont work for me.

hi edy.g, Yep, MP with any SVN from the past couple of weeks works well for me.

An SVN from two days ago seems to have a broken capturecarddefs.xml file, but I just swapped that for one from a few days before. This isn't related to just that card though, as my compro machine upstirs also didn't work with the very latest SVN.

It wasn't all smooth sailing though. When I bought the card I had also tried upgrading to an MSI and AMD 64 combination. I just swapped over motherboards but the windows install was still the same as was the MP install. The card worked fine with the Dvico software and MP could see it but wasn't able to tune anything in with it.
Then I reverted back to the regular MB (Athlon with Nvidia chipset) and the card started woking straight away. Again, no reinstall or anything, just swapped motherboards.
It sounds like you have a completely different issue again, though.

My drivers are also the one on the CD, which still aren't on the website yet.
I haven't tried the beta drivers, but given the issues others are having I'm not going to temp fate by changing anything...

    Ahhh... thanks for that.

I did use the latest SVN available on Sat .. the capturecarddefs.xml from that version did list the card, but MP didnt recognise it ,,, and the def looked 'odd' as it didn't list the two tuners - just one!

To be precise, can you tell me which SVN version has the 'working' XML file? Would save me a bit of mucking around ...

FWIW, I cracked the sh*Ts with MP and rebuilt with MCE2005 - which successfuly recognise the card, but doesnt display video!!!!

I've not had a pleasant weekend .... from the bits I've been able to compare between MP and MCE2005 - I'd certainly be preferring MP!

If you look at the "get my DVB-T capture card working" thread(s) in the hardware support forums it will help you to modify the capture card definition xml file yourself, if you are so inclined. DVICO drivers seem to change around names and pin numbers fairly regularly, so I have had to do this by hand several times. I believe the new TV engine won't need to use a capture card definitions xml file and will work it out for you, which will be much appreciated as far as I am concerned. :)

yep, thanks. I did try and use GraphEdit over the weekend, but didnt have much luck. All the available instructions are aimed toward single tuner cards - not a dual tuner card. I couldnt figure out how to get the antenna to branch out to multiple tuners - the point'n'click interface only provides one pin.

will be trying a more 'stable' version ov SVN defs.xml tonite ... fingers crossed.

I've attached the CCDef file from my MP which is the one that is workling with it now.
Hope this works out for you. I guess that it's only the very latest that have issues and I'm sure it will be fixed soon. SVNs are like that...

Thanks .. was able to get the card working last night by going back to a slightly older SVN. All goodness thus far ... can now detect card, scan channels and actually watch TV!! Tonite, I plan to validate that recording and EPG are working and might even have a stab at getting MCE remote (and keyboard) working.

Great to hear it works for you now. It was scary that you were at the point you were considering going back to MCE :)

The remote should work as soon as you tick the MCE button in remote setup. If you are more adventurous you can try the MCE plugin, that will let you control other things using the blasters, but I suggest learning to walk before you try running ;-)

In regards to the EPG, you'll have some fun setting that up, but just remember that the biggest cause of issues is that the names of the channels that you configure have to match the "display names" of the channels in the EPG.

Post in that forum if you run into any issues...
