STB: SA Explorer 3250 Rev 1.0 (Manufacture date 7/21/2003!!!)
Receiver: Microsoft MCE 1.0A Model 1040

Works with the version in the download section and MP 0.2.2, but haven't been able to get it to work with newer test version and SVN yet. I'll try again this week.

Where did you get the definition for SA Explorer 3250? I didn't see it in the list when I configured it inside of MediaPortal's plugin config page. Also, mine is the HD version. I've tried to reprogram the Windows MCE Remote IR blaster to no avail. It seems to "learn" the IR code, but it doesn't make the STB do anything, although the LED illuminates.

Hey dash80, I've attached the codes that I use. I am pretty certain that this also works with the 8200 and 8300 (since they all use the same remote) which are DVR versions. They may also work with your HD version? I'd be curious to know...

I initially had trouble getting it to work until Aaron adjusted some code for the speed setting a few revisions ago and then I power cycled (unplug and plug back in the receiver) and it has worked beautifully since then.

Also, maybe Aaron can use these codes for the quick install too. If you need some of the other buttons I'd be happy to record those too.

Thanks for posting the IR files. I finally figured out that they go in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MediaPortal MCE Replacement Plugin\STB

You didn't include the corresponding XML file, but I hacked on together. It may be all wrong, but here it is...

Unfortunately it still doesn't work :-( I'm using the Media Center Remote control with the IR transmitter (included with the remote). I can see the LED's flash which means that at least it's listening to the MC remote. I put the small LED's in front of the SA3250HD's IR sensors but there's no effect. Am I putting the emitters in the wrong place? I tried in the front and back. If it's Infrared, should I be able to see the LED blink red?

    Thanks for all your help.

    elconejito:
Thanks, I'll include those in the quick setup list.

    dash80:
Try setting the blaster speed to each different setting.

The blaster will flash red when it transmits, this is a deliberate feature so you can see that it is working (blasting).

    good luck,

I don't have an XML file. I actually got those from this folder
    "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MediaPortal MCE Replacement Plugin\IR"

Am I correct then in assuming that the "IR" folder is for learned commands?
And that Aaron makes the XML files specifically for quick setup?

Try changing the blaster speed setting. You may have to power cycle (unplug and plug back in) the recevier for the settings to take effect. This solved the "blinking light w/o response" problem that I had.

I tried that to no avail :-( It seems that changing the blaster speed and NOT unplugging it changes the blaster speed visibly. Does this mean that even if you notice a faster or slower blink, that in fact it's not? Which blaster speed did you choose? (slow, normal, fast?). Any other parameters I should be looking at in specific?

I used the "none" setting. The others (slow, normal, fast) did not work for me...

I just can't get anything to work :-(

I can program MP using the STB's remote (SA Explorer 3250HD). It appears that MP is learning properly because I can test with the IR Blaster and the LED does blink a sequence. However, the STB doesn't seem to reply to the IR blaster commands.

The interesting thing is that the IR blaster has a visible LED. Someone here said that the IR Blaster uses a visible LED to let you know that it's working. I'm thinking this is part of the problem. I don't think the STB IR receiver picks up the frequencies of the visible red LED. As an experiment, I used my cellphone camera to look at the IR LED of the STB remote control. It shows up blue when transmitting, as do other remotes. However when I put the IR Blaster's LED to the camera, it shows up red. Would it be a fair assumption that the digital camera can be used to check for light spectrum frequency compatibility? If so, then the blue STB remote colour and the red IR Blaster colour indicates that they are perhaps not compatible?

I can't say with any real certainty as I am not an electronics engineer, but as far as I know the visible light of the IR bug is not the issue.

Your camera probably sees it as red because the camera's ccd is more sensitive to visible light than infrared.

What is more likely is that the STB's remote is using a frequency or protocol that the MCE box doesn't like. It's learning something, but that something is not an accurate representation of the actual code. If you see what I mean.

Did you ever try "MyBlaster" plugin? If MyBlaster works then I have something that will work for you... so let me know.

    Cheers,
