I'm also thinking that media portal is not going in the right direction. It's only my opinion but it's what i think... In the past i've tried collaborating here designing some skins, and also testing and giving some ideas... but after a while i've got very frustrated. The interface standard is allways changing, if you design a skin, tomorrow is not valid, there is not a good tool for skinners and yes, there is A LOT of new features... but for me, the basics is not very good. I'm now using TVedia, it's much more simple, but it works very fine, it's nice and simple. The interface is THE MOST important thing in a HTPC application and i think that MP is already far away from this... I do not want to create a flame, just to give my opinion and may be some constructive critic to this software...

Best regards,

Hi all!
MP is one of the best HTPC project out there. (Bill Gates included)
However I still think the SVN should be tested more before the checkin to the trunc.

Keep up the good work. In many ways it is fantastic what peolple can do for free!!
That's what open source is a bout.

"Configuration managers don't die. They just checkout" LOL

If you downloaded that day's svn, you were very unhappy. If you downloaded the next day's svn, and went into standby (which I completely fixed), you were very happy. The SVN is a snapshot of the day's work. We make mistakes. We have jobs and can't quite put the finishing touches on things. If you are using the svn, you have to be patient.

    Good point :)

    I know!
This is not my point. What i'm trying to say is: The features development is overriding the basic engine.

I would strongly disagree with you. Granted, there are many plugins that are included in MP that probably should be a standalone download (LCD, last.fm, etc). However, (and I'm looking at the log entries from the last several weeks) the vast majority of commits are either adding features that are necessary to the functioning of a front end, fixing bugs, tweaking existing features, or code cleanup. The TV Server is a very necessary evolution of the TV engine. This goes back to December 9th. I honestly don't mean to sound hostile, but could you give a concrete example of what you are talking about?

Am I wrong or are you not able to watch TV with this media center app? If I am not then the name is pretty much the WRONG choice :)

Also you can not compare this app with Mediaportal (again if it is not able to watch TV) because the TV part is the hardest part of the Media Center experience. If you do not look at the TV part then Mediaportal is equal, I think even better, then this TVedia thing.

In the other hand, i know about the great effort behind this project, so best regards to all programmers involved here... keep up the good work!! I've just expressed my modest opinion...

Mediaportal development is not going in the right direction.
The SVN build is to unstable. Yes: SVN is BETA or less.

Stability should be the (if not) the goal. Not the features.

    MP II Good stuff
