Dear all,

This is my first post, and thus I want to thank you all for the enormous effort already spend into the software and forum.

I have built-up my first HTPC recently and struggling with some configuration / behaviour of MediaPortal. You can find my current configuration in my profile. I have two issues:

(1) When I scan for TV channels, I can find only seven channels.
(2) When I try to tune any TV channel, I get a System.AccessViolationException .

Situation:

(1) I have two Technisat Skystar 2 HD DVB-S tuners and an Astro 85cm dish with Quad-LNB and Spaun Matrix. In the Server Configuration I checked two satellites for both tuners. Thus, both tuners have the same configuration. Sat 1 has default settings except that satellite is configured to Astra 19°2 E . Sat 2 has default settings except that satellite is configured to Astra HD (or the like, forgot exact name). Yet, when scanning for channels, I got 7 misses (no signal), the eight one is a hit with 7 channels (e.g. ProSieben Switzerland and Austria; several "unknown") and all the remaining ones are just updates. My signal quality appears to be 100% while signal strength is approx. 75%.

(2) When starting the MediaPortal and select "MyTV" it takes approx. 5 seconds and then I get an error message within MediaPortal that timeshift could not be started. Checking the logs, I found the aforementioned System.AccessViolationException . I checked the Windows XP setting for the XD-bit and it is configured to apply to essential Windows services only.

Please find the logs below.

Thank you for any assistance on my two issues.

BTW: as I am new to MediaPortal, please try to avoid abbreviations as good as possible. E.g. I have read many times about SVN but do not know where to get it. I know SVN as source code repository, but then I would have to compile, right? I do not have a compiler.

Dear all,

I could solve my problem by following instructions in this forum. Learning: Always follow the instructions.

What I did? After applying the DVB-patch, I deleted the folder containing the patch because I like to have "clean" systems. Yet, it broke my MediaPortal setup. After copying the DVB patch back to drive C:, I can tune all channels and, to some extend, watch television.

Yet, I do have other challenges which I will try to solve.

(1) Starting MyTV takes a long time (10+ seconds) before it shows something
(2) Zapping does not work, after changing the TV channel, MediaPortal hangs and I have to reboot the PC. After reboot, the new channel is tuned and I can watch it
(3) Occassionally, the video freezes while the sound continues. Only possibility (currently) is to reboot the PC.

I will dig the forum to find answers to all my questions :)

That was to be expected as the patch will register the files from the folder. If those files are deleted you are deleting system files.

...sorry, no idea about the other issues.
