Synopsis::

Media Portal freezes occasionally when recording. This is sometimes when I try to go into the My TV menu from the main menu when a show is recording. However, the problem also happens when the system is recording unattended. The freeze has even occurred when only recording one show (and no playback was occurring).

When the freeze occurs, the entire computer is non-responsive - I have to press the reset button to get it working again. Even Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work.

I believe that my hardware is fine, since I ran a memory tester, a HDD tester and a CPU heat tester and had no errors. I have also used Media Center, and the system does not freeze when recording while using Media Center, only Media Portal.

Attachedis the entire log from when the system came out of standby until the freeze.

    Freeze while recording unattended

    Hi.

I changed the codes to MPV and MPA as suggested (I did this for Movies, DVD and TV).

Media Portal froze this morning. When I turned the monitor on at 7:40am, the clock on the Media Portal main menu said 6:55am. This is also the last time any logging occurred. I had turned extensive logging on for the PowerScheduler plugin, so there is a lot of info in the attached log files.

My settings in Power Scheduler are:
    - time to resume: 1min
    - idle time to shutdown: 10min
    - shutdown mode: Suspend
    - forced shutdown: No
    - extensive logging: Yes

This freeze occurred when the system was completely unattended. No video or music was playing, and Media Portal was at the main menu interface. There is nothing in the Windows event log around 6:55am - all the entries are at 7:47am when I restarted the computer.

Do you have any ideas as to what could cause this freeze?

    Thanks.

Restart Media Portal after resume from suspend

I've done some more testing and found that the problem only occurs when resuming from standby and using the USB tuner (from the DVICO Dual digital tuner card). The PCI tuner does not have this problem.

If I restart Media Portal after resuming from standby, the tuner works fine.

Is there a way to automatically restart Media Portal after it resumes from suspend mode?

    Edit:
I have replicated this problem by only enabling the USB tuner in MP, and manually forcing suspend / resume. When I try to watch live TV after resume, MP reports "Failed to start TV: Unable to create graph". This only happens with the USB tuner after resuming. What does this error mean, and what could cause it?
