That's not needed, and even impossible to install on Win 8.1

enabling .NET 3.5 features for Win 8.1 is enough.

The crash seems to happen on Deploy.Tool (which is the installer).

Do you get any logs?

C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Log

If you have some (install log should be there) please zip 'em all up and attach them to a post.

Also check you system logs to see what triggered the crash.
