Hi all, my first post here so please let me know if I've not given enough detail.

My system: HP MicroServer, 4Gb RAM, 2Tb disks, Windpws 8.1 x64

I was running v1.5 of MP on Windows 7 x64 since it's release, all worked just dandy. I wiped the box and installed Windows 8.1 (via the Store upgrade) and then installed MP 1.6. Most things worked fine - although I could never get a great TV signal - for about a month. Then out of the blue the TV stopped working, caused because the MySQL service was crashing on startup.

I did a full uninstall of all components and downloaded 1.6 installer to do a fresh install. The 1.6 installer crashes as it reaches 100% progress unpacking itself. So I tried the 1.7 installer, but the same happens and as such I simply can't install MediaPortal.

The error I get from either installer is:

Description:
Stopped working
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01: mediaportal.deploytool.exe
Problem Signature 02: 1.2.0.1656
Problem Signature 03: 52b77be0
Problem Signature 04: mscorlib
Problem Signature 05: 2.0.0.0
Problem Signature 06: 5267216a
Problem Signature 07: 3459
Problem Signature 08: d8
Problem Signature 09: System.IO.FileNotFoundException
OS Version: 6.3.9600.2.0.0.256.48
Locale ID: 2057

I see that it can't find a file, but I have no idea which file it cannot find! Please help!

Thanks,
Daniel

1.6 and up requires .net4 Did you install it?

    https://www.team-mediaportal.com/news/mediaportal-1-6-0-final-released
With MediaPortal 1.6.0 we switched to .NET4 so you need to make sure you have .NET4 installed on your computer (not needed if you are on Windows 8 because it comes with .NET4, but you NEED the .NET 3.5 features enabled!). Otherwise you are not able to install MediaPortal and the installer just quits.

It would also help to include all the log files

4.0 comes with Windows 8.1. I removed all frameworks and reinstalled them just in case, but no joy. Any idea where the logs are?

Also, I previously had 1.6 working but removed it fully for a reinstall, and now I can't install.

If you did a full uninstall with the cleanup option then there will be no logs at all.
Can you verify that MySQL is also completely removed from your system and do you have a firewall or Virus software running on the machine?

When you run the installer now, does the install complete or come up with an error and back out the install?
If it backs out, what is the error?

Yep, everything is removed. The installer actually crashes while is is unpacking itself, I don't even get to kick off the install. I double click the .exe, the progress bar slides along as it extracts files, gets to 100% and then it crashes out.

    Hi DanielDaniel (and welcome) ;)

Just to be sure: Did you enable the .NET 3.5 features as breese suggested?
