First of all, I really appreciate the help.  I know I could simply restore the computer to default settings but I'd love to get to the bottom of this in case it helps others

No folder is created in ProgramData.  I attach the crash log, which is the only log I can find.  The error message suggests that the Deploy.Tool is expecting to find a file and crashes when it can't find it.  But I can't fathom out what that file is it is looking for.
