The skinning engine/GUI really needs per skin 'style sheet' to separate the logical skin/app function from physical look and feel.
i.e.
APP <--> SKIN(STYLE SHEET)
I think editing a simple style sheet is what many people would be happy with.
This way you can set up a (eg B2) style sheet and still merge latest skin/svn and not lose your style settings.
(style sheet would define: backgrounds, fonts, colours, button shapes etc etc, i.e. can pretty much customise everything except for the logical dialog->app mappings).
Perhaps that's what the next skin engine will provide?
