Hello All,

Polargeek here, one of the admins over at theTVDB.com. I am working on assembling both advanced detailed instruction on how to use the site and general how do I use it at all type stuff. As both a user and developer the advanced stuff is no problem but as is usually the case with developers I am not sure what the average user wishes they had known before using the site the first time.

So because I'm not sure how many here read theTVDB forums I am posing the question here. If you have used the site tell me please what do you wish you knew?

As an end user and not a developer, I feel like the site is very very easy to use. Most of the functionality I think is pretty self evident based on the interfaces. The only thing I can think of that would have been nice to know from the begining though is how the site handles different episode orderings, like with Firefly or season 1 of Battlestar. Once you understand that the database stores several different ordering schemes it's pretty strait forward, but for a while I was wracking my brain trying to figure out why all my Firefly episodes were out of order.

Thanks for all the work you guys do though, thetvdb.com is an absolutely amazing site.

I add a lot of new shows so I'd like to know how to update a show with info from tv.com.. I know I've seen a button once but then never again.
And what is this "Absolute Number" where you add/edit an episode and what about "DVD Disc ID"? Does that even make sense?
Info about all the image uploads would be nice to have all in one place. Possibly better explained.

Never use the forums, the site feels so squeezed, can't bare to look at it for long times.. and also the forums don't look like they belong to the site. Feels like you're not in the right place or something like that.

Okay thanks for that everything but the TV.com has been addressed in the instructions. TV.com updates are not available at this time but once it is back available I will write instructions for that as well.

Hi Polargeek

just a performance issue with downloading the data is it normal for each episode to take approx 20 seconds to retrieve the epidose data, i have noticed lately that the time taken to do a fresh import has slowed drastically, to the point where i have to leave it over night.

is there any other mirrors that offer a faster connection speed

We only have the one site and for the last week or so someone or something has been beating the hell out of the server we are trying to figure out what's going on hopefully we'll have a fix soon.
