    I thought about that idea too, was actually thinking about photoshoping something...

    I would say the above is good if it was collaspable + still have the movies listed by their original title. Otherwise the the user might not be able to find a movie if it's not listed under it's title in the usual alphabetical manner. (back to the future/aliens is not a good example because all the movies start with the same letter)

    I was exagerating a little with "The Twilight Sag..." but think about "The James Bond Collection: 19 The World Is Not Enough". I have a thing against text that doesn't fit and has to scroll. I really hate the "Other tracks tagged with: %tags%..." on the now playing screen

    PS. the number in the brackets should be 4 the whole way through i made a little mistake. In this example the user hasn't downloaded the 4th +5th in the series.

    As long as it's all optional, because I would hate having multiple items listed as per your examples, might as well stick to the seperate categories then that I already created for all the collections/series I have.

    And frankly, if a person scrolled down and stumbled on 'Attack Of The Clones' in a movie list, not even knowing it is the 2nd chronological plotline movie in a series of 'Star Wars', they might start it and be totally confused on the main storyline, where if they saw it as part of a collection, they would watch it in the correct order.

    It would then also allow them to see that they for example lack a movie (like 4th and 5th one) in your collection, so instead of risking to ruin the order of things and watch that 6th one, they could fire up their Netflix queue, or run out to a local Redbox, or any other way they obtain their media and make sure they get those first.

    I'd actually prefer some kind of grouping, but I guess a) to much work b) I'm the only one :D

    Example

    - Jam (1999) ---> Movie details/play (dep. on pref.)
    - James Bond ([collection/series or similar]) --->
    -- New list - year, ascending---
    -- "Casino Royal (1954)"
    -- Dr N o (1964)

    EDIT: S**t, didn't read up on later posts :oops: Seems I'm not the only one who would like grouping, though :D

    This animated gif explains how I would do it.

    asnimation.gif

    Also there are options in the config

    Code:
    [X] Group movies that belong to a collection under a single entry
    [ ] Auto expand movie groupings in the list
    [X] List individual movie titles in list as well as the movie collection entry
    [ ] Prepend movie title with the movie collection name
          eg. "Casino Royale" -> "James Bond Collection: 15 Casino Royale"

    This would solve all the problems that I can think of that we have discussed. If I missed out an idea or there are still problems let me know and I can alter my concept idea. So if you wanted it to look like you suggested you would have the first 3 boxes unticked, and just tick the last box. If you wanted it to look like the back to the future mockup screenshot that you posted above, you would only tick the first 2 boxes.

    This was just a curiosity right now, which could settle a title rename battle on MovingPicturesSocial later when it goes public, as to see where public concensus lies at.

    Umm no. The "correct" title on Moving Pictures Social will be the official title for that region (keep in mind localization is supported). This is not up for debate, and even if it were this is not the correct place to be having this debate.

    I will leave this poll open but keep in mind guys this has nothing to do with future plans for Moving Pictures or Moving Pictures Social.

    Yeah we will definitely implement movie collections, its something all the developers would like to see. :p And great animated GIF! I somehow glossed over those before! I was about to ask if I could cross post it to the issue tracker but I see you have already posted it there too. Very nice and thank you for the ideas!

    Your welcome

    My idea/suggestion doesn't cover directors edition/trailers/deleted scenes/extra scenes etc, but i have some ideas for GUI / Config etc... that I will post sometime.

    Sorry for adding another "off topic" post, but is there a disscusion about this actual enhancment other than what is in the issue tracker?

    If not my question is:
    Is this functionality available ATM, even in manual naming & ordering form.
    I've been using the categories for a while now, but it is not as slick as I'd like and I thought I'd ask if there has been any advancement on this.
    I have not been able to find another discussion here in the MP forums.

    I am a programmer and thought I would try to hash out a manual version of what I had in mind if one does not yet exist. However I do not want to step on any toes and if there is something out there that I could play with I'd be greatly appreciative.

    P.S. if you find a discussion on this enhancment, here in the MP forums, that I've missed please let me know.

    Thank you for your time.
