Was this from launching the config screen or the MediaPortal GUI?

is the same behavior for startup Mediaportal or Config screen i run config screen by run "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\PluginConfigLoader.exe" /plugin="c:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\Windows\MovingPictures.dll" but is identically via config menu of mediaportal( after splash screen the windows remain freezed for 68 seconds)

the same problem is present when I browsing first time offline remote folder in movingpicture menu.

there are any way to reduce timeout for offline remote folder in windows or skip remote folder check at startup?

After looking at your log file I am not sure that the import path check is your problem. It is definitely the first log message to appear after the delay, but this is a part of the Importer startup process and is performed in it's own thread. It shouldn't block startup. I am speculating though and there is a way to test this.

  1. Open the Moving Pictures Configuration Screen.
  2. Click to the About tab.
  3. Click the Advanced Settings button and click past the warning.
  4. Near the beginning of the list, click the "Enable Importer While In GUI" setting.
  5. In the text box at the bottom of the screen, change this setting to false and click Update.
  6. Close the Configuration Screen and try opening the MediaPortal GUI. Do you still get the delay loading or is it gone?

Just to be clear this is not a solution this will tell me whether or not your problem is caused by the importer or if it is something else. Once you determine whether or not the delay still exists you can switch the setting in the config screen back to the default if you'd like.

thx fforde

1st test
when I try to disable "Enable Importer While In GUI" my mediaportal remain 60 seconds in initialize default skin.
2nd test
after i have enabled again "Enable Importer While In GUI" and the problem on movinpicture plugin seem disappear an remain the problem on skin load

i do not know if the problem was in skin load or movinpicture.
I'll wait a stable version of mediaportal for a future fresh installation.
thanks for all
Giuseppe

Ok i have a clarification,

the problem was not on movinpicture plugin but on skin initializzation, in fact when movinpicture try to access on remote folder, the home page of mediaportal is already opened.
See into the mediaportal.log at 2011-05-16 08.52.03.734375 for delay in skin initialization
and since the plugin start after the delay, the problem is not due to plugin.

correct me if I wrong
Thanks
