Hope someone can help me with this...
I have one of these :- http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Unbranded_MCE_remote
It came with a USB receiver, and I have it working perfectly with XP and Mediaportal (1.1.0 RC5). In XP, it worked straight away. In Mediaportal, I have it set up as a generic HID device.
I recently got a Toshiba RC6 IR remote (G83C0005X110) at a car boot sale, no receiver. Looks like this:
I tried setting it up as a Microsoft MCE device in Mediaportal, but I can't get it to work with the receiver that came with the other remote. I also tried many of the other remote options, including the generic HID device like the other remote, still not working. A red LED comes on when buttons are pressed, and I could see IR light coming from the transmitter (through a digicam), but since it was cheap from the car boot sale, maybe it was faulty to begin with.
What I'm wondering is if I should be expecting the Toshiba to work with the receiver of the other remote at all?
Is there anything else I need to consider or try?
