However I'm not sure on the legal aspects of that if it's not with the authors permission. It would be better if the author posted the source code. I don't think he will though as he's got it doing what he wants, which was the only reason he wrote it. I would guess his opinion would be that if someone wants to improve on it then they can write the whole thing from scratch. Can't say I blame him, it's his work. Personally I'd really appreciate it if he donated the source code, as many people could add adjustments to the great framework he's provided to make it more configurable.
