Hi there,

when i looked over the fence yesterday to the forums of the xbmc project, i saw a kinda cool feature within their equivalent of the MovingPictures. You can watch for every movie in your database, a trailer and spare some lengthy explanation for your girlfriend or any other co watchers.

So jealous as i was, i started programming on a trailer scraper and wanted to ask the users, if anyone would be interested and the developers if they could integrate either a button for the trailer or even better the scraper in the source of the MovingPictures plugin.

Please do this, it's something I've been looking for since I first installed MP a long time ago. I thought that fforde or armandp was working on integrating this feature for a future release (not 0.8), but if you already have a trailer scraper tha might speed up it's integration into the mp plugin.

We are eventually planning on integrating trailer support for Moving Pictures and there is actually a lot of good discussion in the issue thread on our tracker. It's just something that is a little bit lower priority for the core devs so it has gotten pushed back. CaNe| if you are interested in helping out with this feature, possibly for a 0.9 release, jump on the IRC channel, say hi and share with us your ideas. We could always use extra help with development so if you are serious, let us know.

EDIT: I can't stress enough though, talk to the team before you spend too much time on something. We have had some pretty major patches submitted in the past that did not fit in properly with our road map that had to be discarded, simply because the dev waited until he was done to talk to us. Communication is important, so please, try to jump on IRC.

This would be really cool, indeed. Maybe integrate MyTrailers with MovPic.

Isn't armand also the dev of MyTrailers? That should make things easier I guess

Devs, what about a new poll for the future features (once the version 0.8.0 is out)? With it you would know which are the more demanded options.

Also you have to keep in mind that while we try to prioritize features that are asked for the most, we are still kind of feature incomplete. Trailer support, while it would be awesome is probably not as important as say filtering. Or even in GUI approval of close close matches. These are things that really should make up core functionality of the plug-in, so while they may not get as much attention they will get prioritized higher. We obviously want to include the most requested features, but we also want to put together a complete product and get out of perpetual beta status.

Firstly, thanks to all involved for a great plugin.

Personally, I have quite a number of trailers already, so I was wondering if this was something that maybe could be implemented in two phases, i.e. some kind of support for existing trailers sooner, with the scraper side added later, unless a third party such as CaNe takes up that cudgel. I am assuming here (maybe wrongly?) that playing the trailer is relatively simple inside an environment like MP, and most of the technical issues would be in scraping part.

Anyway, just a thought, but it would be really great if this came about.
