Hello,

For a while now i've notices that new (English language) additions to my movie library get titles in my database translated to swedish. Allthough I'm from sweden, this is not the way i want it. I want the original movie title, no translations, and not english tites for movies with the title in another language.

Even if it is'nt exactly what I want, i tried the IMDB English Title Scraper, but i still get swedish titles.

I have tinkered a bit with it, importing manually in the configuratoin GUI, and i noticed that even if i choose a english tite form the "Possible matches" menu in the importer, it translates into swedish when i approve the title, and the details is retrieved.

I guess this has to do with IMDB:s annoying new habit of showing me translated movie titles nowadays?

Is there someone who have a soution? Maybe it's possible to scrape from akas.imdb.com?

Thanks!

IMDb started adjusting the content of the page based on your region detected from your IP. As best as we can tell there is no way around this. If you are interested in English content then i would suggest switching your primary scraper to themoviedb.org. It has quality info and will probably be the new English default before long anyway.

Thanks for the swift reply!!

When browsing imdb, there is a workaround; just browse to The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) and all titles will be original. Sorry if i'm yammering on about something i know nothing about, but would it not be possible to make a scraper that use akas.imdb.com instead of imdb.com?

Last time we looked at this the akas subdomain exhibited the same behavior, maybe they changed it there. We will take another look.

So the akas subdomain does not default to English, it defaults to the original title. So it is not really a solution, it would just trade one problem for another. Any foreign film would get non-english titles... I would suggest anyone having issues with this switch to the scraper for themoviedb.org. I have been saying it for a while but I think with the next release we are going to make themoviedb.org the default for English users rather than IMDb...

Any thoughts on this?

Well, for me and many others akas would be the solution. All of us who want the original names of the movies.
Getting a english movietitle on for example a swedish movie like with themoviedb.org isnt really an option.
I hope that akas could be a future feature. ;)

I'll second TechWolf, many of us want to see the original title, exactly as shown in akas.imdb.com , the "classic" IMDB format we all got used to until the recent change that compulsorily redirects users to localized versions. It would be nice to have an option to keep the original title, regardless of language selection.

Mat123 posted a modified IMDB scraper for akas.imdb.com (link below). I'm using this scraper with Moving Pictures 1.1.2.1219 and it works perfectly, all movies are listed with original titles.

The problem with the akas.imdb.com solution was that it would then show wrong on certain other movies. I believe I finally cracked the proper solution with the IMDb+ scraper, but could use more testers to make sure.
