Hello,

I am going to make (finally) the transparent from WINXP to WIN7.

My system is:
MB: ASUS M4A78-EM.
CPU: AMD5200.

Before I am doing it, I have some questions:
- Is there any option to export current MP configuration and import it to the new WIN7 installation? My main concern is TV-server configuration (channels, EPG, etc’).
- When using the remote control, I use the big green button to get into home/main menu. I know the in VISTA/WIN7 this button turns on media-center. Is there option to change this?
- Getting out and in, from and to, stand-by by the remote control.

If you have any other tips, I’ll be glad to hear.

Thanks.

Hi mshai,

I think the first, and most important point to make is, the current stable release of MediaPortal (1.0.2.0) does not officially support Windows 7. The development team are working hard on MediaPortal 1.1.0.0 at the moment, and this will be the first officially supported version of MediaPortal on Windows 7.

As I type, there are still a few outstanding issues with the "Release Candidate" of MP1.1.0.0. "Release Candidate" (RC) is a pre-release version of software that the developers believe will work ok, but it may still need some final testing and bug fixing. Generally it is recommended that RCs are not installed onto your everyday or "live" system. We recommend that the RC is used only for testing purposes. Obviously, you may choose to run MP RC on your live system, but you *may* hit some small issues that take away from the user experience.

Personally, I will upgrade to MP 1.1.0.0 RC when it is available as I am currently using MP1.0.2.0 on Windows XP and require some features of Windows 7 that are not available in Windows XP.

On to your questions.
1. Unfortunately no. As new versions of MP are released, there are many external (visible) changes, as well as internal changes. As a result of the internal changes, TV Server configuration cannot be migrated across.

2. Yes, the instructions are on this link, about 3/4 the way down the page in the "green button" section. Installation Manual

3. Using the remote, there is a sleep button, simply press that button to put the PC to sleep, and press again to wake.
