Hi guys I have been chasing a problem with my htpc and can not track down the problem, So I'm after some advise for more things to test. This setup used to run with no issues with speed. not sure when it changed maybe around the time I first installed mp 1.3 alpha??

    Ok problem:
    • Restarting system or running from idle seems fine and runs ok after a few hours back to slugish
    • While TV server is running my system is slow
    • Swtiching from or to fullscreen TV will freeze and once the process has completed TV resumes
    • Using I.F.C TV will Freeze until process has completed
    • Using TV guide TV will freeze until processe has completed
    • Using TV series without TV server running is also slugish
    Things I've tried:
    • Moved all 800gb media files to own hdd 1.5tb sata
    • Reinstalled windows 7 and mediaportal to a ssd 120gb
    • Stress tested cpu, gpu and ram all running within limits (although cpu is monited so reduces voltage if/when hot)
    • Checked all settings that could increase cpu usage and set accordingly
    • refitted CPU cooler new grease
    System specs:
    • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G SB710 mATX DDR3-1800 RAID VGA/DVI/HDMI Dual Output Support 1394
    • CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 265 Processor 3.3GHz 2MB Cache
    • Ram: 2x 2GB DDR3 1333 DIMM
    • GPU: VGA Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4250 GPU
    • OS: windows 7 Ultimate x64
    • mediaportal 1.3 Beta
    • Case: silverstone SST-LC16S-M

Just throwing out some ideas here.

Have you tested without installing TV-server on the computer?
Is Cool 'n Quiet enabled or disabled in bios?
What does your task manager look like when it's getting sluggish? Is CPU maxed out? Are you running out of memory?

Also the GPU isn't the most powerful one out there, so that might be a bottleneck as well. But I don't know of a way to see the workload for GPUs.

Cool n Quiet set to auto. will test with task manager

Edit: no I haven't tested without TV server.

Ok, try to disable C'nQ as I've heard people having issues with it, it might have been fixed but it's worth a shot. Also, I would've ran a test of a fresh install without TV-server just to see if it helps.

Might be someone else that has better insight into this issue then me though.

CPU maxed out when I switched from windowed to fullscreen. Odd before that I did a system back up, ran live TV and done a TV series import all at once with only about 60% cpu usage.

    Ctrl+Alt+Del -> Task Manager / Resource Monitor

See if something is hogging the CPU / HDD / Memory at the same time the HTPC goes sluggish.
