maybe you should seek advice on the IMON support forums then.

you have an issue with your hardware, rather than with MP.

until you can get it working in windows it won't work in MP.

When you first start iMON it should ask you what type of remote control you have. Has this been set? If you look in iMON Manager under Settings, what does it show for the remote controller? Mine is set to iMON PAD (I also have an LC11m).

Normally, the default setup, iMON Manager will be running in the background and the iMON applet will be shown on the taskbar (a black dot in a white disc). Also, the IR signal indicator should show on the desktop (it can be turned off, but the default is for it to be displayed). How it appears depends on the version of the software you are using. In version 4 it changes colour when it receives an IR signal, in 5 it opens a sidebar which displays the received command.
What is your signal indicator showing?

First of all thanks for all your help. This afternoon I disassembled the front of the LC-11M and surprise! one of the connectors was not properly fitted to the circuit board. After I had fixed it I had partial success, now being able to switch on the system via remote and also to get some stuff displayed on the screen when I press buttons. However the iMON tool crashed after a few seconds.

Anyway I believe I've made good progress and I'm confident that I now get it solved. I'll continue tomorrow with deinstalling and installing the iMON software.

I spotteed that you need to set "Run Front Display Controller when iMON starts" to "never". Then iMON doesn't crash anymore.

Display in MP seems to work and remote is on its way.

It took maybe 10 minutes to programme all IR commands into my Harmony remote, no worries. I have the setup now running for nearly a week and both display and remote work ok - save the known problem "VFD stays on when going into hibernation"....
