Sorry...guess you get tired of this...but though i've read several posts and followed the instructions mentioned there my MP doesn't play mp4-audio-files (nero aac)...windows media player (and every other player i tried) doesn't have any problems handling mp4-files...and with MP everythings allright too...tv works fine (though i still got some unsolved trouble with an 0,5 sec audio to video delay), videoplayback is better than i have expected and even the games and the "normal" audio playback (mp3/wav/ogg etc) are working perfectly....>.<

I tried several codecpacks...ffdshow...vista codec pack...haali splitter...nimo...and many more...nothing worked...except the orban aac plugin...but it has an unbearable deficit...its ugly like hell......and with its ugly black screen and its atarilike writing over the whole screen you can't see anything else...neither animations, nor the next track(s) nor anything else...
Another thing i tried was a clean installation of windows, MP and codecs (just ffdshow2008-10-10 and haali media splitter), because i've read too many codecs could screw up the system...but it didn't work neither...

And because of that clean installation i can't provide any logfiles today...i've tried some other things too and messed up my whole system...now i'm tired of hours of wasted work...i'm going to set up a new MP-system tomorrow...

I hope you have some suggestions what i could try to get my music working...:D

k...after i set up a new clean working MP system with XP sp3, MP1 RC3 and vista codec pack i looked up the logfiles, because the problem wasn't solved yet...and there i've found the error...bass player wanted to open mp4-audio-files as movie files which doesn't work properly...after that i just deleted the .mp4 extension from the movie-extensions in MP and now it works fine...hope this could be of use for some others having trouble with mp4-playback...:D

MP4 is too generic a reference for these filetypes, they should be either mp4a or mp4v, so windows can differentiate between the two better.

There are lots of posts on the internet about this, so its not just Mediaportal related.

As I said...I just needed some suggestions...I haven't thought, that the difference between mp4a and mp4v is a problem for MP so I've tried the complicated possibilties at first...every other player I know doesn't have any problems to differ between mp4-videos and mp4-audio, so why should I think that simple if I can try out the difficult stuff at first...?!
