Hello,

I am wondering if the Trust Wireless Vista Remote Control RC-2400 works with MP on windows xp.

Everywhere i looked the say the remote works on Vista only. There seem to be no XP drivers available.

Searching the forum didnt bring an answer.

Can somebody help me? The remote is rather cheap so i want to buy it :)

Thnx
Jan.

Hi.
No the remote doesnt work in XP. Only Vista!
When you try to install it on XP it will say "found device snowflakeemulation". Ive heard about drivers that microsoft has on their supportpage. But i searched and found nothing.

The remote works with some operation.
Successfully tested in win xp home.
Downloads this windows fix:
Update Rollup 2 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
it contains the necessary drivers.
Launch the exe but not complete the install.
The fix auto extract the files in c:\92834o584 or similar direcotry.
Copy the folder from c:\ to your desktop (if necessary unlock files with unlocker: UNLOCKER 1.8.7 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB)
Now install the driver manually for "snowflakeemulation", search it in "Desktop\92834o584\SP2QFE\ip.
From dirver list select "microsoft" vendor and search "eHome infrared reciver"
install it.
Now, for correct working download the freeware HIP : ByRemote - What is HIP?
Install It, and configure them using MCE remote (you have to select and install the plugin when prompted in 'installation, default is set girder)

Now your Remote is working.

PS: Sorry for my english, I'm italian.

hi everybody, if i sincerily the main reason for registering in this forum it´s for this topic,
i bought this remote control (trust vista control rc 2400) and i always use xp profesional xp3, the solution to work aparently it´s easy but i have a big big problem, when i try to install the update i cannot, the reason it´s because my xp pro is spanish and the update is not available for my language, thats why the update suddenly stop and close when i try to install and it´s impossible to extract the differents files...

i would be very grateful if somebody can upload the differents files for installing my remote control.

thxs a lot...

if someone could post their .hip config file id be very gratefull, my remote IS responding, but after 1st reboot it had 'double' respons, when i press right, it goes two positions to the right :( (like :'right' 'right', really fast)

Or maybe someone had this problem before?

I am having very similar problems with the same remote. After the reboot things got weird. When I hit down it just scrolls really fast through the menus. Sometimes it will work after a pause, and then proceed to go down one...Very odd.

Any update on this?

Also, might someone point out how to install the IR server plugin/MCE Remote thingy. Downloaded the rars, saw some files and didn't know where to place them. Call me dumb if you want.

i fixed it by removeing the drivers key from registry, because the standard buttons work with both that driver and HIP its registered in MP as ''double''

Hello everyone,

I don't know how I didn't find this earlier...

Load "regedit.exe" and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Then delete the keys from "CodeSetNum0" to "CodeSetNum3".

To make sure you can recover these keys easily should you want to you should save them by using the export function in the file menu.

Once the registry has been changed you will need to reboot for the change to take effect.

This same process can be applied to disable automatic keyboard handling. Just look at the other registry sections under the "Remotes" sections.

Now if you ever want to re-enable the automatic handling of the MCE Remote and MCE Keyboard you just need to put those registry keys back.

EDIT:

You can recover those Registry keys by reinstalling the eHome driver, just go into device manager and uninstall the eHome receiver USB device and then go to the Action menu and select "Scan for hardware changes", this will bring back the driver and the registry keys with it.

thank you for your speedy reply

I tried this out and it just disabled those buttons when I try to use them again.

Edit: Just try a few things...deleted intelliremote which may have been the culprit. Seems to work ok.
