They are not like regular raid in that the file system on the media drives remains normal so id the raid dies you can access the files without rebuilding the raid, also means that you don't format the drives at the start so you can keep existing data on the drive. With your 6 x 2tb this would give you 10tb of storage and 2tb for parity (backup), snapshot is designed for drives that don't frequently change, eg. media drives.</p></blockquote><p></p>
