Quite a few people seemed to have trouble playing .ts files on RC2 (usually recordings from HDTV) -it was suggested to change the extension to .mkv or .mp4 as a fix. On my own setup this took about 2-3 minutes to open a file and when it opened it was unwatchable with very low framerate. It seems the problem might be partially fixed on RC3 - I can now directly open most of my .ts files but at first the picture is frozen- if I fast forward or skip a few seconds the file will then play with no problem. Does anyone know what should be done to fix this freeze issue so .ts files can be played without a problem (BTW thanks for almost fixing it)?

seems you are using : h.264 Video Codec: Cyberlink PDVD8 Ultra ?

Have you tried Coreavc also ?

OK I just installed the trial version of CoreAVC and I get exact same problem- the .ts file opens quickly but only the first frame is shown with no sound- if I fast forward or skip then it plays OK.

s anybdy found a fix for this? i can't even open my .ts recording made from my hauppauge hd pvr. everyother mkv works fine via kmplayer and coreavc. having to watch .ts recordings direct from folders via powerdvd 7.3 until i can figure this out

I have installed Haali media splitter and MPC-HC filters (ver. 845 x86 (32 bit) from here x64 from here) and these have allowed .ts files to work fine for me using hardware acceleration (DXVA) in WMP11 (as long as Video Mixing Renderer (high quality mode) (Tools>Performance>Advanced) is selected. To do this you must extract MpaDecFilter.ax and MPCVideoDec.ax from the zip file and place in Windows/system32 or (or SysWOW64 in x64) then go to Start>Run type regsvr32 MpaDecFilter.ax and OK and then do the same for the other file. Alternatively you could download Hoborg's SAF filter pack which does that all for you (except install Haali). Some people have the MPC decoder working in MediaPortal but still have problems opening .ts files (see here).

Just one note - forgot about x64 version of fiters. MediaPortal is 32bit aplication and it is not possible to be working with x64 filters...
