I am runing windows 7 32bit and mediaportal v1.2 beta with sky epg. Have you tryed plugin in the power cables in to the card? some times they need extra power.

yep. first time I had it without a power cable, second time with. It showed up fine as a device the first time. other differences in my rig are win7 64bit, MP 1.1.3.

    Hi iancalderban

Try using the DVB-S network provider instead of the generic network provider. You can find that setting in the card properties (-->wiki<--).

Also, can you give some details about your multiswitch. How do you select the appropriate input?

    thanks mm.

I have had a stable mediaportal 1.0.0 rig for just over 2 years (literally untouched apart from channel re-scans when the providers move them around). I just built afresh with 1.1.3, I didn't know about that option in the tv server, must be new, I will try that.

as for my multiswitch, it "just works" with every other receiver I have (two other dvb-s cards, a tv with builtin dvb-s , and an old-as-boots standalone receiver), I don't have to do anything. I believe the way it works is that the 4 links from the LNB to the switch inputs are specifically set one to each of the 4 polarization options. So the switch is always receiving all 4 polarizations, one on each input port. when a receiver on an output port tries to tell the LNB to tune to whatever polarization it wants, the switch sees that and connects it to the feed from the input port carrying that polarization. They are standard stuff in blocks of flats, I happen to have a house with multiple viewing rooms, so it made sense for me to put one of those in. I can't remember what make it is (I'd have to go in the loft to check!) but its like one of these Multiswitch. Multiswitches to be used with a quatro LNB. Satellite Superstore UK. Big Discounts..

    cheers

well, I set the card preferred network provider in tv server to be dvb-s, made no difference. as per the log, in the channel scan, I get good signal strength and good quality on a fair number of transponders, but no channels....

yes and no. I have corresponded with the manufacturer, they believe my card has a hardware fault. they tell me there are two
hardware paths inside the tuner - a "control" path which sets up the tuner (that is working on mine, hence I get good signal etc) and a second which gets the actual data from the tuner and decodes it into channels etc. They believe the second path isn't working on my card. So the card needs to be replaced. European RMA is via bulgaria, so it will take a while to get done with post etc.

    Hi again Ian

Did you already send it away? I was still hoping to get a look at your TsWriter log just to confirm there is nothing going wrong there. If there was stuff going wrong with TsWriter then those symptoms might be explainable. Obviously I realise you may have tried the card in other software and confirmed it doesn't work. I'm only curious...
