Did you already send it away? I was still hoping to get a look at your TsWriter log just to confirm there is nothing going wrong there. If there was stuff going wrong with TsWriter then those symptoms might be explainable. Obviously I realise you may have tried the card in other software and confirmed it doesn't work. I'm only curious...

not quite, but its wrapped in a parcel ready to go to the post office. I did take a look in tswriter, there was nothing obviously untoward. nothing in error.log at all. If I still have the tswriter I will sent it to you for completeness.
I tried 3 different apps (dvbviewer which is tbs' own, dvbdream, plus of course MP), same behaviour with all.
once I got in email contact with an engineer at TBS I described the symptoms and he was convinced it was the second hardware path dead on the board.
