Planning on switching from dvb-t to dvb-s on my htpc and just wondering if the videomate s350 works ok with the exteral audio patch cable as these are quite cheap to get hold of at the moment. Are the any complications with using 2 of these and watching/recording multiple channels.

If you're planning on switching to DVB-S then I don't quite understand why you're asking about that. As far as I'm aware that input relates to the analog tuner/input - as such it would be completely irrelevant for receiving satellite channels.

It has a audio in and audio out and amd i thought the audio out wich goes to the s/c line in was for the tv audio but maybe im wrong. As its digitl tv does that mean it all goes through the pci bus. Its a very ling time since ive used a tv tuner with a external audio output.

The audio in and out will be for if you are using the analog s-video or composite input. You don't need them for the satellite input.

Yes. Most analog tuners do that as well. Those that don't are not supported by MP.

Hi again sorry to change subject slightly but ive ordered an pinnacle 7010ix instead of the videomate ones. So i just want to ask if i add all the freesat channels with the DVB-S
tuners and then add the freeview channels withthe DVB-T tuners can imap them to the freesat channel numbers so that i dont have mutiple channels the same. I understand that you can but not sure as ive only had DVB-T tuners to play with up to now.

    Hi Smiler,

I think the thing you are thinking about is the "combine channels" function.

I have both DVB-S and DVB-T tuners. When I have done a clean scan you will have multiple instances of the same channel. This is noticeable with Channel 4 - you will get the DVB-T one from your local transmitter and about seven from Satellite - I combine them all.

In fact, I place the DVB-T cards with a higher priority in the TV Server listing, so these get chosen first. I would also combine the DVB-T channels first.

Be aware of your local BBC 1 and ITV 1 channels, and pay particular attention to making sure you combine the correct ones from the Satellite transmission. If you get the HD channels you will find that your regional ITV 1 HD channel is just identified as ITV1 HD - and there are about four or five listed. It is trial and error as to which is which - and the same goes for the ITV1 +1 channels.

    HTH,

    M.
