When auto tuning new channels (digital TV) Media Portal is unable to find several TV channels including Channel 4, E4 (although I can Receive E4 +1) ITV, ITV 2 (although i can receive ITV2 +1) Film Four +1 and Cbeebies (among others). Does anyone know what the problem is? At first I was certain that it was a case of reception, but other televisions in the house (running on the same aerial) are capable of receiving this channel. If it helps the closest TV mast is Winter Hill.

I also have a (less important) question about the EPG, there are some channels missing from the list, such as Sky 3 and ITV2 +1. Is there any way to add these to the list?

Any help anyone could give me would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Weak signal, DVB-T cards reception wise, are no match for Freeview set top boxes, and it looks like you are missing at least one of the transponder signals.

Try a aerial booster as near to the mast as you can get, I'm on Winter Hill as well using a T500, no signal problems here.

As far as the EPG goes, I just let it update from the DVB stream, just double check in setup\television\program guide that the box for this is ticked, you do not need to select a language.

You could use WEBEPG which you will find in the mediaportal folder for grabbing epg from websites, but ITV2+1 still not included as of MP 0.2.3.0 RC1.

    Cheers

Cheers mate, I hear there are proplems with MUX A and 2 on winter hill frequencies, and these are the carriers that contain the channels I'm missing.

I have a booster as close to the ariel as I can get it, but it doesn't seem to help (granted it is ancient and designed for analogue signals) if its merely a question of frequency I'm not to concerned, I have installed the tv card software for when I move into university halls, and my halls are on top of a hill, so I suspect signal will be no problem

    Thanks again for your help.

Anyone else having this problem? I'm about 58km from Winter Hill, with an analogue aerial, booster all connected to my Nova-T 500. I'm missing the exact same channels as DrMadnes, and strangley enough, get ITV2+1, not ITV.
My freeview box DOES pick these up, although the signal is pretty weak. Do you think getting a better aerial might improve my chances of receiving freeview? I have got a PVR card and a skybox too, with a red eye that I used to use as a backup.

I have since connected to a newer rooftop areal, it was already installed on the house when I had the previous issues but it was connected to a different TV. This seems to have solved some of my tuning issues although I am still missing a couple of channels. I have also (for some unknown reason) seen better signal quality since upgrading to a later version of media portal.

I have to say that I have been away from home for 2-3 months (and my computer with me) between having the issues and solving them. It is possible work was carried out between these times.

    Hope this is some help.

Hopefully the missing channels will appear once the analogue system is shutdown in November 2009, and they can up the power output without fear of interference to the old setup.

Work on the principal if the TV cards own software works fine, then so should MP for the same TV channel reception, use that as a guide.

    Cheers

    Hello!

I also have problems tuning some channels, but in my case is not problem of reception/signal strenght, because I can tune them correctly with the WinDVD software, if I exit MediaPortal. Anyone knows a way to manually add/test a channel? I have tried to add it manually, but there are too many parameters that I don't know (actually, I only know the freq. and channel)

    Thank you

Darn, why do I never see the relevant thread until AFTER I've posted...!

Anyway, I have issues with tuning my FloppyDVB-T card inside MediaPortal - can't really test it outside easily (it doesn't know UK terrestrial digital, but it did pick up BBC1 when I tuned telling it to use France DTV).

Inside TV Server config it misses the BBC channels. I would asusme they are all on the same transponder but my TV (downstream of the FloppyDVB card) picks up the Beeb fine.

Before the digital switchover it was fine. (I use Stockland Hill in Devon).

Sorry to multiple post, just thought I'd add my two pennyworth.
