I think we can say this is not an issue with MPSA.

My card is the Technotrend DVB-S [I understand the nova-s is a rebadged version]. Last night I had a play with the TT Media software from Technotrend which accesses the card using the BDA drivers. When I try and search on some transponders on Astra 2D [the one with ITV2/4 on for example -- tp 44 -- and yes I was searching after 8pm at night ;) ] -- it found no stations. I could search on others [like the one with various BBC1s] and it works fine. Bizarre. The only thing I can think of is driver [or I guess MS] issue. I am using the latest driver.

I plan to poke about in the registry and see if I can find anything odd [keys left behind from previous driver versions etc] I will let you know what I find.

Cheers

OK...so I poked about in the registry. Nothing obvious.

I wanted to check there was nothing wrong with my hardware setup, so I booted the latest Knoppix release [5.1] direct from CD. Ran "kaffeine" off the CD and did a scan of channels off the Astra cluster at 28.2E -- all there. No problem.

So clearly, the issue is windows/driver related. I have a call in to Technotrend -- but Im thinking next step is a clean install of XP etc.

I'll keep you posted.

Quick update.

I have not done a reinstall yet...but I realise I have two issues, not one. It seems that

[1] There are some transponders where I can find no channels [tp44 on astra 2d for example]. This occurs both in MP and in the Technotrend software. So, looks like a driver or Microsoft issue.

[2] There are some transponders where I get some channels but not all [tp45 on astra 2d for example]. If I use the Technotrend software I do see all the channels. This would appear to be an MP issue.

So, I am now enjoying myself having a poke around the MP source to see if I can get to the bottom of problem [2].

I spoke to Hauppage supposed support on this and they said "there is a problem with the down steam not the product" Obviously that is rubbish or the card would not work in Server 2003 and Vista.

Obviously a driver issue that Hauppauge can not be bothered to fix because they are too busy writing bad Vista Drivers too. :)

Same problem here..scanning works so-so...

Here's a solution, at-least for me:

Download MyTheatre demo from www.dvbcore.com

Install and search channels..I promise it won't miss a single one..:)

Then download this util, MediaPortal Channel Import Utility:

http://www.dvbn.happysat.org/viewtopic.php?t=37838
(You need to register as a member)

Install and run, this will import your MyTheatre channellist into MP..works like a charm..! You will, however, have to edit each channel with regards to how the frequency is displayed..add three zeros to every frequency in MP's channelproperties..like 11216 to 11216000.

Hope this helps you.
I'm totally new to MP but this was how I spent most of saturday..:D

mmm...MyTheatre discovers some of the channels -- but not all. If I try [say] tp44 on Astra 2D [10758 V] I don't find any channels. Yet boot into Linux using a Knoppix CD -- fireup Kaffeine and it finds all the channels.

So -- still some bizzare driver/windows issue. Still, the tip helps some. Thanks.
