TV breakup every 30 seconds (1 Viewer)

Hi folks,

I've been using MP 1.0.1 for months and months now and it's fairly stable. The only thing that sometimes happens is when waching TV: I get a picture breakup like where a frame or frames from about 30 seconds previously can be seen, but the playback continues. This then happens every 30 seconds (approx). I suspect it might be related to memory and/or watching playback while recording. Anyone else with similar issue?

Hi Doogle,

There are multiple possibilities why this can happen.
I have lived such stuttering:
- in most cases on my system: when McAfee antivirus does a full system scan on client side ( schedule a full scan when you're not watching TV can help)
- in heavy rain (kind of difficult to turn of rain, but a larger dish could help)
- with bad reception (check signal and quality in manual control in server part of MP, also here a larger dish could help)
- when my MP server is doing processor heavy stuff (downloading weather pictures or compiling a new TV schedule => solved this by setting time at 3 AM, I seldom watch TV at 3AM)
- difficulty to descramble image (again server side)
- when mp-server starts stalling (stoppign service and starting service helps)

And probably there are other reasons why this can happen.

Did you check in task manager what processes are using most of the energy of your machine?

Berns, thanks for your reply, however I think what you describe is more like the stuttering that others have experienced. My issue is not really stuttering, it's more like a momentary pixellated breakup rather than slowing or freezing of video. CPU percentage is low

Well Doogle, I'm trying to help based on my own experience.
What I would do in such a case could be:
If you are running on a single box (server and client in one) you could try to install another client to connect to the server and see if you have the problem on that machine as well. This way you could maybe rule out a few ins and outs. At least you would know it is server or client related, perhaps.

I saw that problem once with my ATI HD3200. It was related to a particular corruption in the DVB-T stream. For me it is cured by simply pausing the playback. Of course if you keep getting new corruptions over-the-air, you will have to repeat the process, but this is better than the every 30 seconds thing.
