Hi, i have just installed Media Portal on my media centre pc but i can't get it to recognize my get my tv card. The card is an MSI TV@nywhere pci card, it works fine with the Hypermedia centre software that came with it. I followed these instructions http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/Add_TVCard_to_natively_supported_list but i still can't get it to work. Am i missing something? Has anyone else got this card working with Media Portal?

Cheers
Jon

Is this a card that uses BDA drivers? It needs to be to work with Media portal.

And... did you install the drivers/sw that came with the card? I guess you must have...

Hi JLP and welcome to the forums.

I am guessing that your card is an analog card and you are using the built in TV engine not the TV server add on.

If that is the case, then you may need to modify the entry for your card in the capturecarddefinitions.xml file.
This can become incorrect when new drivers report the hardware with a slightly different ID.

I'm afraid I can only guess at the moment, since you provided no information about your set up at all nor any logs (found in the logs directory).

there are a number of threads that explain how to modify the definitions file and how to find the hardware ids. These should be able to help you in more detail if that is the cause of your problems.

    Cheers,
    Marcus.

    Thanks for the replys guys.
Yes the card uses BDA drivers and i installed the drivers that came with the card.
This is (http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=GTM-TVANYAD) the card i have.
My setup is an MSI MS-7093 motherboard, Athlon 64 X2 3800, Maxtor 500GB hard drive, 2GB ram, DVD-RW.
I am not using the Tv server add on and i have modified the entry for your card in the capturecarddefinitions.xml file. I will post more information tomorrow, when i have more time, thanks again for the replies.

    cheers
    Jon
