HI all,

I have the same problem with ATI HD3200 on MA-78GM-S2H rev 1.0. with a Panasonic TX-PZ85.

Is there any solution for ATI?

I use to turn on TV and change input before turning on HTPC but not my wife and you can guess what...

Thanks!

Using 8.5 drivers I can restore/activate the TV picture by using the remote or keyboard. Using newer drivers I can't, screen stays black. So part of the problem seems driver related.
Same MB (MA-78GM-S2H) on sony bravia TV

RESTORED switching video to other display!

I just upgraded my video card to an NVidia N9500GT and thought to use the latest driver 185.50 I had been using nView Profiles and HOTKEYS to switch my single desktop between my HDMI (1280x720) projector and my analog (1440x900) 19" monitor. I had issue getting this nView to work... I uninstalled 185.50 and reinstalled 182.20 without any improvement. Last night I went back farther to a 169.xx version I had on my system and still got nowhere... Fooling around with the system tray I saw NVidia's icon and see a Show nView Toolbar selection. I tried the nView's Toolbar Switch to Next Display Device and voila -- the display switches over to my other display! I assigned this function to a HOTKEY (in my case: <Ctrl><Alt><n>) and now I can (once again) toggle my desktop between video heads effortlessly! This 'feature' may reside in later versions of the NVidia display drivers, but as of last night I'm back working on 169.xx..... not sure whether I should fool with something that is working!

Hope this helps those of you trying to toggle between monitors -- especially finicky HDMI ones :)

I don't know why nView no longer uses the Profiles correctly, but this 'new' way of controlling my NVidia display driver works just fine... whenever I press the HOTKEY the display just flips over to the other and I'm set!

I tried ti configure manual detection and disable ATI hokey poller. I no longer get black screen if HTPC is turned on before TV, BUT image appears about 20% overscanned. Only if there is a change in resolution or refresh rate the TV draws the picture without overscan.

Any idea on this? I don't know if it is a driver issue or a Panasonic HDMI input problem.

    Thank you!

It's a driver issue because the ATI hotkey poller service is disabled - changing resolution/refresh rate forces the driver to load/apply the control panel settings.

Thought I would post my status and look for any more ideas.

Thanks to Owlsroost I have the nvidia driver service disabled.
Several things I have tried but I can only make the TV come back on if I disable this service and I run HDMION from a remote pc. I can remotely login to the HTPC when the HDMI screen is blank, after resume from sleep, and run HDMION and get the TV to display the windows login box.

My attempts to run this automatically or from a hotkey have so far failed. I used the NVIDIA hotkey assignment to assign hdmion to a hotkey and it will not restore picture on the tv. If however I Remote log in and run it the TV comes on.

With the NVIDIA driver service running I have had no luck getting an image on the TV
Except from a cold boot. I feel like I am close but could use more suggestions. Like how could you get hdmiOn to execute on every resume?
    Thanks!

Did you try the Switch to Next Display Device I mentioned above, in #12, or do you have a single display connected to your NVidia?

I do only have one display, the HDMI connected TV, but I did try that and it did not appear to do anything.
I programmed a hotkey for that, the profile suggestion given, and for HDMION and all execute but do not seem to help This is the strange part, If I run that HdMION form the remote PC the picture comes back but from the hotkey locally it has no effect.

Can't remember if it's possible with the XP task scheduler, but in the Vista task scheduler events can be triggered on resume.

Would the PC normally (if the TV is on) 'resume' to the login prompt or straight to the desktop i.e. auto-login ?

Checkout MCE MST (Standy by tools) it may have function of running HDMIon on resume
you can assign a macro to run hdmion using a keyboard shortcut

Also why are you using nvidia with ati hotkey profiler?

I wanted to update this thread for others with the same problem.
Nvidia customer support suggsted loading older drivers see instructions and results below...

Thanks for all the efforts you took to send us this information we requested.

The issue you are experiencing is not a general behavior of the graphics card or the graphics driver. Hence, in order to troubleshoot the issue I would request you to install the display driver version 182.06 using the driver cleaner software by following instructions described below.

Please visit the link below to download the display driver:

    GeForce Release 182

    * Once you download the file, Please perform the below mentioned steps to uninstall the drivers currently installed on your PC,

    1. Right click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.
    2. Select properties.
    3. In the next window select Hardware and then select Device Manager.
    4. On the Device Manager Window click on the (+) sign next to Display Adapters.
    5. Double click on the Graphics Card Option.
    6. On the Graphics Properties Page, select driver and click on Uninstall to uninstall the Graphics Drivers.

After uninstalling the older drivers, please visit the link given below to download and run the driver cleaner utility on your Computer.

Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com (Remove only NVIDIA display driver using this utility)

After downloading and running the driver cleaner utility, please double click on the driver file to install the drivers for your graphics card.

In case if the issue persists then please try the driver version 178.24.

Please visit the link below to download the display driver:

    GeForce Release 178

Please let me know if your issue has been resolved.

    Best regards,

Both 182.06 and the older 178.24 partially resolve the problem. With either of the older drivers I am able to turn off the TV and turn it back on and get the picture to come back. Both 185.85 and 186.18 fail this test.

So whatever changed between 182.06 and 185.85 broke the HDMI handshake with my TV.

I called Panasonic and they were very helpful in diagnosing this issue. They stated that the HDCP handshake was being forced to repeat by a reboot and that the "authentication forever" signal was not properly maintained. They checked the firmware version of my TV, it was up to date, and they suggested a new HDMI cable. I got a new HDMI cable and it resolved the hibernate issue.

So in summary two issues, bad drivers, anything newer than 182.06 and a bad hdmi cable. I have confirmed this by again installing the newer drivers with the new cable and it still fails.
