Yes but what about transferring your audio? I have my HDMI going out of my GT220 to my receiver then off to my Bravia tv.

Ended up using spdif from the motherboard to the receiver rather than taking the audio from the GT220. Granted it's a pain when chainging input sources now. :(

    I have a similar problem....

I use the internal GA HD3200 of my Gigabyte board and this is plugged to a 1-2 HDMI swith witch has a connection to 42" LCD and a Sanyo Z3.

It´s no matter if I switch on/off the LCD or Beamer when the PC starts I get everytime a videosignal. I get a signal too if the PC use hibernation or standby and wake up.

But when the PC woke up in the morning and the LCD or Beamer is turned off and I came back from work in the evening it COULD happen that the PC and the LCD/Beamer has lost the signal. This happens only sometimes, I don´t find a clue when he lost the signal.
All event timers and energy options for the monitor are turned off, the problem should be searched in the keep alive signals.
HDMION doesn´t work too, the only working way to get the signal back is to reboot the system.

Is there a way to initiate a handshake or a search for a TV/Beamer manually?

Install MS 'devcon' utility and use the 'devcon rescan' command - see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/tv-black-screen-76435/#post566542

    Owlsroost,
I am still searching for a way to move up from my 182.06 Nvidia drivers. This could be a path. I found this link for devcon The DevCon command-line utility functions as an alternative to Device Manager

Could you post your command line that you use? Is it just “rescan”? It seems that would cause a complete hardware rescan and could take a long time to execute.

Seems like this is another tip you could add to your sig…
    Thanks.

Ok, I´ll give it try, thanks. I´m just waiting for the "black" to press the special button on my MCE... ^^

This is the "old" devcon, but ok for Win XP.
U have to start devcon with rescan as extension, just like "devcon.exe rescan". U could realize it with a batch file or a shortcut to devcon.
If you want to have the actually devcon, here is the link:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=36a2630f-5d56-43b5-b996-7633f2ec14ff
You can find the files in WDK\setuptools_ia64fre_cab001.cab, WDK\setuptools_x64fre_cab001.cab or WDK\setuptools_x86fre_cab001.cab. Extract and rename _devcon.exe_00000 in devcon.exe.

The DevCon download I use is from this page - The DevCon command-line utility functions as an alternative to Device Manager

It doesn't take long to execute 'devcon rescan' - it's only looking for new devices i.e. plug-n-play hardware that is present but not installed - I've just run it on the Vista laptop I'm using to write this and it took about a second or two (since there were no new devices present).

DevCon is really nice utility - you can use it to restart specific devices, so if you have something that doesn't resume from sleep properly, just create a batch file that is run on resume (e.g. via TV-server or Windows Task Scheduler) with the devcon restart commands in it.

EDIT - just noticed this post - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/video-cards-334/clone-display-2-lcd-tv-67144/#post596430 - the MS forum post it links to describes a way of modifying the 'default monitor' data in the registry which sounds like an interesting workaround to try.

Hi everyone, first post and unfortunately it had to be for resurrecting an older post.

I'm having basically this same issue as the OP, but with onboard video from an ati hd3200 on an asus m4n-785m (or something). Previously i had been using dvi to hdmi adapter and spdif audio which was great, but not as nice as straight hdmi.

The issue is whenever i turn on the htpc first i do not get any video over hdmi once i turn on the other components. It takes a restart to get the video to come on. Unplugging the hdmi cable or changing inputs does nothing to restore video. If i go back to using the dvi adapter everything is normal, of course without the nice hdmi audio.

Maybe i'm not searching the right words or something but i have found very little about this actual issue and even less on solutions. It's rather inconvenient to remember to or even always have to turn on the receiver/tv just to make sure when i want to watch the htpc i have video. From what i can tell the issue is related to the handshake of hdmi and the fact that if the pc doesnt get one it never tries to look again for it.

Anyone have any luck with a solution that didn't involve major workarounds? even remoting ito the htpc and messing with things doesn't get the vid card to rescan for an hdmi monitor.

    Thanks

Not sure if it will work for you, but take a look at this: HDMI Handshake problems - The Green Button this is one solution, but I have not tried it - it works for some people. Another thread here: *Official* Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 thread - Page 271 - AVS Forum which might be of use also.

I have something else at home, which is a small batch file that you can set to run as a sheduled task, which refreshed the information passed in the handshake, that again seems to do the trick.

However, I never found a really satisfactory solution, and ended up bypassing the AV Receiver, and going straight into the TV, and using SPDIF connection for audio between HTPC and AV Receiver.

Will update this in a few hours with the small application I came across, as this has been a two-year problem for me!!

EDIT: I probably didn't help much, as Kiwijungalist already mentions this on the first page, but the application I was referring to was this one http://thydzik.com/tag/hdmion/ - hope it works for you!
