For example PAL has a frame rate of 25fps, so you should set the rendering frame rate and the refresh rate of your monitor to the same value or a multiple of it eg. 50fps and 75Hz refresh rate.

Using NTSC it would be 30fps and 60Hz.

HD makes it even more complicated because it is using 24fps. If you have not state of the art technology you will even get hiccups within HD environment, because only latest LCDs support 24Hz (or multiple). :(

Hi Flip,
Could you explain the PAL/NTSC/HDTV-and-DTV-in-general-thingy a bit more in detail? Because Wikipedia doesn't cut it for me. Could you, or anyone fill in the gaps for me or explain where I'm going wrong?
Analog PAL broadcasts are in 25fps
Analog NTSC broadcasts are in 30fps
(HD) movies (DVD, HD-DVD, BD) are in 24fps
DTV broadcasts are in ???

I want to optimize my DTV experience. I guess my refreshrate of my tv is 50 hz because I live in Holland, right? So the refreshrate of my videocard should be on 25hz interlaced (PAL mode in vista).

Now, what is the refreshrate of the DVB-broadcast?
And what hapens if I watch 24 fps HDDVD or DVD on a system like the above...?
