Possibly, try everything you can, I know i found a problem with my graphics driver that gave the occasional glitch, located it with the DPC latency tool thats freely available.

    Hi spiderwheels

There really is nothing obvious in those logs at those two times, although there is at around 21:07. Many people have generic problems with HDMI so I wonder if it could be that. Have you got the option to use a DVI to HDMI converter? Also, I'm wondering whether you observe these problems when not playing in full screen - that would help to eliminate whether it is a generic video problem (ie. you wouldn't see the MP interface) or a video playback issue (ie. only the the video window would be black)...

Most of the time the computer is playing some sort of video but once or twice I have seen the screen blank with just the MP interface displayed and no video displaying (so it's not related to the ATI inteface flickering issue when video is playing).

I don't think it would suddenly develop an HDMI fault when it's been fine for so long.

Changing codecs, graphics drivers and even regressing MP hasn't helped so I'm starting to suspect the graphics card itself. It's less than a year old so I'll see what the shop says. There is an ATI chip with HDMI on the motherboard (not sure if it does audio). I'll see what it does when I get time.

Using the IGP appears to solve the problem (but with the loss of vector adaptive deinterlacing :( )

It is a hardware problem so I have moved to the HTPC hardware forum.

    :D for everyone's assistance

After installing my new TBS-card I also suffer from this problem.
Seams like TBS is causing this problem?

*Update FYI* - I've been using the IGP for a few months but noticed it still blanked - not as often as using the discreet graphics card but the problem was still there. So I went back to the discreet card and the blanking was back at 30-60 minute intervals.

Then I decided to mess about with the TV (Sony bravia). I looked at the HDMI settings and turned HDMI device control to off - OK so now I won't be able to control my blu-ray player from my Sony remote but I've now managed to watch a film on a satellite TV channel through mediaportal without it cutting out! Strange but true.. I can appreciate Sony and AMD mis-interpretting messages at the fringes of the HDMI spec but why the IGP should be different from the discreet card doesn't make much sense at all.

Early days yet.. I hope it keeps working

That could be one of the weirdest hardware issues that I have seen reported on this forum if it is down to the hdmi, have you tried using another one.
