Last year I left my PC hibernating and waking up automatically. It worked fine the whole time, about three weeks. This summer I got an HVR-900 for DVB-T channels, unfortunately MP doesn't work well with it after hibernation, so I left my PC on for about three weeks. It's no problem, the PC doesn't get too hot no matter how long it's running.
I installed UntraVNC so I can remotely connect and control MP if needed. Unfortunately the USB WiFi adapter stopped working after 15 days and I couldn't remotely reboot it. The recordings were made anyway, as it didn't need Internet access (EPG data was being fed from DVB-T).
If you are unsure about your PC reliably after many cicles hibernating/waking up, you can program a daily reboot and launch MP at start up (there are threads explaining how to do this reliably, too).
