could there be a switch to toggle certain series to hide (as in you have watched the full series and dont wont it to keep being shown untill a new season and you could toggle on again)
to save on scrolling though all series that you have seen and not want to view again for a while.

This is there already. If you enter the series module you can set a filter to separate watched from unwatched episodes. In BlueVision (the default MP2 skin) this can be found on the Top Left button, the "Menu" button and then "filter" and now:

MP2 is remembering your filter settings so you only need to do so once. Now you can enter the "unwatched" folder

and only episodes are shown you didn't saw up to now. As you can see I have 8092 unwatched and 14965 watched episodes in my library right now. In Unwatched only those 8092 episodes are shown.
